From the owner

Our apartment is situated in a charming little village between Cormeilles and Pont L'Eveque, it is surrounded by beautiful countryside with the river Calonne running through its centre. The village possesses its own bakery, which is a very short walk away, with wonderful fresh bread, croissants and many other treats to tempt you. We offer private off-road parking and private courtyard and BBQ area. It is a quiet location with artisan bakery and wonderful restaurant in the village. Shops for all other essentials are not far, Cormeilles being the closest village for supermarkets and artisanale shops.

The apartment offers two bedrooms (a double and a twin room), spacious open plan kitchen, lounge dining area with a well appointed shower room. Television with English satellite reception, DVD player and music system that is ipod connectable.

Honfleur and Lisieux are 15 – 20 minutes away, with Pont L'Eveque 10 minutes and Beuzeville 5 minutes. We are situated within easy reach of every major tourist attraction and have many more beautiful villages and beaches on our doorstep.

Pont L'Eveque is within 10 minutes' drive of Bonneville la Louvet with shops, cafes, restaurants and a historical church. This small town is very famous for its soft cheese - not surprisingly called Pont L'Eveque!

Lisieux is a busy town and around 20 minutes drive. There is a good shopping centre, a nice church and once again plenty of restaurants and coffee shops.

Honfleur and Deauville are approximately 15 miles north. They have lovely beaches and pretty harbours with boat trips and weekly markets. They are well worth a visit.

Caen is around 40 mins drive. Here you will find the Abbaye-aux-Dames and Abbaye-aux-Hommes, built by William the Conqueror and his Queen Matilda. Caen has a really good World War II museum.

The main D-Day Normandy landing beaches of Utah, Omaha, Sword, Juno and Gold are approximately 45 to 55 miles and all the museums, film shows, walks and memorials that you could wish for are in this area.

They are very moving and you may find an old soldier around to talk to if you wish. At Arromanches you will find the remains of the Mulberry Harbours, instrumental in the supply of goods for the invasion push after D-Day. These beaches are still referred to by their code names.

There is a fantastic museum and memorial here. Around 53 miles from the apartment is the famous town of Bayeux where you can view The Bayeux Tapestry. Also at Bayeux is the largest WWII Commonwealth War Cemetery. If you get a chance the War Cemeteries are well worth a visit; they are extremely well looked after and are very peaceful, reflective places.

Rouen is the city where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake and is 55 miles.

If you are interested in World War I then the Somme sites of Abbeville, Albert, Amien are around 150 miles east, and are enlightening, moving and sometimes a little shocking.

For a longer day trip there are trains to Paris from Lisieux with a journey time of approx. 2 hours. If you choose to you can drive - it is approximately 120 miles, but remember there are toll booths en route which cost.
