“Lakeside home a pristine place to stay!” We booked this lakehouse as a quiet retreat for the family and it proved to be the perfect place to unwind. The view of the lake, manicured lawn and blooming flowers on the deck and in the yard provided a beautiful setting. The owners did a fantastic job giving us a clean, well equipped, roomy, all amenity home. We enjoyed using the bar-b-que pit nightly and apprecitated the fresh firewood provided so we could have a camp fire in the fire pit down by the lake at night! This house was truly a home away from home. Restaraunts and shopping in nearby towns were easy to find and not too far to travel. Thanks for the memory that will last a life time!

“Enjoyed visit immensely.” 8 year old granddaughter cried when time to leave. Asked if we could come again next year. Clean. Great for dogs, fishing with children. Not too far from the Dells. Will definitely want to return next year.

“Cozy Winter Lakeside Haven” This cabin was just charming. Easy access with a remote feel The owner was awesome - very easy to work with. Family pride in history and ownership shines through the eccentric decor pieces strewn throughout, and written explanation "Chronicles of the Cabin". This home was perfect for a group of 5 of us travelling to participate in the nearby american Birkebeiner. I would say this cabin can comfortably accomodate 5-6 in winter, more in the summer with use of the downstairs area. A plus was 1)use of the basement/laundry room as our ski preparation workroom, 2) having access to a washer and dryer if needed, 3) plenty of games. Tv ( went unused) was in one bedroom. Plenty of cutlery, eating utensils, coffeemaker. One potential drawback (esp. in winter) is that the one shower is in the basement, with indoor access by spiral staircase - likely not easy for a large or mobility-challenged person. We enjoyed watching nuthatches, chickadees, bluejays and a pileated woodpecker from indoors and saw many deer tracks outdoors. Would love to see local wildlife there on a summer morning or evening. All in all, perfect for our group.

Tomah house

“A winter wonderland in spring” This was the first time we took our spring vacation north of Chicagoland. We had expected cold temperature in Tomah (a 4 hours drive north) but not snow covered landscapes and a frozen lake in spring! The Serenity House was nice and clean and the owner was friendly. Internet connection inside the house was weak but this gave us a distraction free vacation. The trail was snow covered but our kids did their morning jog on a quiet country road. The fire pit had a few inches of ice but there was no problem in setting up an evening campfire. We turned the snow covered landscape into a large screen for a slide-snow (slideshow). The lake was frozen and our kids built a snow man and Teepee on it. (Caution: we pounded the lake surface with heavy duty monopods to make sure it was stable before we walked on it). We skipped most tourist traps in the Wisconsin Dells area and visited Dr. Evermor's Forevertron on Hwy 12. You don't find many places like this Junk-Art wonderland in the world. We also visited the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge near the resort. The refuge is a wonderful place to explore nature in summer and fall but it was muddy in spring. The staffs at the visitor center were very friendly and we checked out snowshoes to hike a ski trail. That was another wonderful experience. Stay in the Wisconsin Dells area if you are looking for typical waterparks or packaged entertainments. The Birch Lake Resort is for nature lovers. Come with a creative spirit to enjoy this place.

Wisconsin holidays

Wisconsin has a lot more to offer than just cheese and friendly folk, although you won't go very far without encountering one or the other. With coasts on two of the Great Lakes, Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, and a healthy sprinkling of smaller lakes and ponds throughout the remainder of the state, there is a surprising amount of water activities to be had in this northerly state. Head to the central region of the state to experience how the Amish community lives or go to your favourite brewery for a tour. In the Dairy State, there is something for everyone.

Some of the sights you will not want to miss include:

  • Wisconsin Dells: Synonymous with a Wisconsin family holiday, this town offers a plethora of activities to keep the young ones happy, such as waterparks, roller coasters and even more waterparks. It is no surprise this town has been deemed the "Waterpark Capital of the World." With wineries, zip lines and some seriously good restaurants, adults can have just as much fun as the kids.
  • Door County: For a visitor that prefers a bit of seclusion, head here. With a coast offering quiet caves and dramatic cliffs, this area is best explored by kayak. In the dry land areas, however, there are a number of cultural activities that will float your boat as well. Theatrical performances, art galleries and maritime museums are just a handful of attractions travellers will enjoy.
  • Milwaukee: Known affectionately as the U.S.'s Brew City, Milwaukee is home to Miller beer and the only Harley-Davidson Museum in the country. The area is rich in cultural history and historic neighbourhoods. It also features modern restaurants, a buzzing nightlife and several shopping districts.
  • Green Bay: As the state's oldest community, Green Bay is now best known for its namesake football team, the Green Bay Packers. Sports fans will go wild for the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame and Lambeau Field.
  • Cambridge: This Victorian village resides on the shores of Lake Ripley. It is known for playing host to Rowe Pottery Works, which is the focus of downtown. There is plenty of shopping, restaurants and galleries for travellers to check out as well.
  • Madison: As the state's capital, this city combines the charm of a small town with big city offerings. Capitol Square features an excellent open-air market from spring to fall and is the place to see and be seen. Madison also features the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Centre, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and the University of Wisconsin.
  • Baraboo: As the hometown of the Ringling Brothers, travellers flock to this town for one very big top attraction, the Circus World Museum. Other attractions include the International Crane Foundation, Devil's Lake State Park and the nearby Mid-Continent Railway Museum.

Wisconsin offers travellers a lot to choose from in terms of activities. Making a big splash with the families is of course Wisconsin water parks. Outdoor lovers will enjoy pitching their tents for Wisconsin camping since there are so many picturesque surroundings to choose from. Wisconsin national parks do not disappoint either for visitors wanting to take in the greenery. For couples, inspiring amor is easily achieved with Wisconsin romantic getaways.

After a long day of sightseeing, travellers can take comfort in all the fixings from home with a holiday rental of their choice. A cabin in the countryside makes for a secluded excursion designed to provide tranquillity while a condo in downtown Madison will put you in the heart of all the action. No matter what gets your pulse pounding, Wisconsin is one state that will constantly surprise you in the best ways possible!

Fantastic Stay

I stayed at this beautiful lakehouse for an entire week. The photos on the listing are accurate. The house is amazing and comfortable to stay at. What the listing doesn't tell you is how amazing the owners are. They checked with me before I got there and made sure I had proper directions, they checked in by text after I arrived to male sure everything was good at tye house and even helped when I had questions about the area. Stay at this location if you want a great price at a comfortable lakehouse with great views and fantastic owners. You will not be disappointed staying here. Hope one day I will be able to visit again.see more

Awesome place to stay!

The accommodations were exactly as described. Super cute place, cozy and clean and welcoming. The goats in the morning were an adorable welcome as well at the neighbors! Very comfortable beds, clean and ready for us. Easy to book, easy to find, safe and secure. This would be a great place for several families since it is a four-plex. Would be super fun to rent the whole building.see more
