How we sort results
Properties on Holiday Lettings can be sorted/ranked in the following ways:
Relevance
Orders properties using various data points, in particular: ratings, number of bedrooms/bathrooms, minimum number of nights, and data relating to the interest in/bookings of the property through us, including the advertiser’s rate of providing quotes to travellers who make enquiries. Other factors include price, property capacity, number of photographs, location, amenities, appearance in search results, page views, and the advertiser’s responsiveness and cancellation rate.
Price low to high / high to low
Orders properties based on either (i) the property’s minimum nightly price, if the traveller has searched without dates, or (ii) the average nightly price for the applicable week of the year, if the traveller has input dates.
Total reviews
Orders properties by total number of reviews attached to the listing (highest to lowest), irrespective of average score. Where there is a listing with the same number of reviews as another (or a listing with no reviews), properties are sorted according to their proximity to the searched location.

About Madison, Wisconsin
Madison is the capital of Wisconsin, so it's no surprise that it's a thriving city with lots going on – you just need to start looking!
The town itself was founded in 1829, and was named after James Madison – the fourth President of the United States.
It's grown into a busy and popular city since then. 39 streets were named after the other signatories of the United States Constitution – see if you can name them all!
Madison is known for its areas of natural beauty, as well as exciting city life. It has stunning lakes and parks which you can walk or cycle around if you're up for an adventure.
The University of Wisconsin is based here. It's very much a student's city - it's liberal, easy going, cheap and open until late! If you want to relive your student days, this is the place to go.
Madison is a great destination all year round, but it can get snowy in the winter. Remember to wrap up warm and you'll be fine.
What to do
History buffs will know that Madison was a centre for the Union Army during the American Civil War. There are plenty of museums on the subject, so we'd suggest going to a few to get the whole picture.
Madison is nicknamed the 'City of Four Lakes' – Mendota, Monona, Waubesa and Kegonesa – so, why not go explore them? Go kayaking, stand up paddle boarding or just for a stroll around them. It's a great way to discover more about the area.
Walk down State Street – it links the University campus with Capitol Square – and visit some of the exciting restaurants and shops.
Craft beer is hugely popular here. Head to one of the local breweries to find out why. And, see if you can catch the 'Great Taste of the Midwest Craft Beer Festival' during your stay – it's been going strong since 1987!
There are activities to try all year round. In winter, go ice skating, play ice hockey, try ice fishing, cross-country skiing or even snowkiting! In the summer, try sailing, bicycling and hiking.
Top Madison travel tips
Head to Capitol Square on Saturday mornings in the summer and see the Dane County Farmers' Market. Here, you'll find delicious fresh foods to try and take home with you.
Each Wednesday, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra performs free concerts on Capitol's lawn. Cheque it out during your stay.
Explore the history and natural beauty of this unusual town during your stay in a Holiday Lettings holiday rental. It'll be a trip you'll never forget – you'll want to come back time and time again!
