“Gorgeous Home, Unbelievable Value” My husband and I and 7 year old daughter were lucky enough to spend a week at Goldsmith House in November. Much more beautiful than pictures can describe, and outfitted with every amenity, all in good condition (loved having the washing machine, too). We enjoyed picking our own fruit daily from the trees in the yard. Plenty of areas to lounge about with a good book, drink, or meal - both inside and out. Very convenient location. Although we had a rental car, we walked into town and also to several of the local historic sites - St. John's, Temple of artemis, Ephesus Museum. Buses and taxis are a few minutes' walk away. Or one could even call a cab.
Alison provided us with loads of information upon check-in, and was extremely helpful. When my husband injured his shoulder, she personally took him to the pharmacy/clinic, arranged for the owner to authorize treatment for him - gratis. On a Sunday morning. We're from america - need I say more how much this was appreciated by us? She even followed up with us after we'd left.
A wonderful home where we were able to experience what it feels like to live as a local. As for the previous reviewer's comments, I think what they were looking for was not a home stay, but a hotel - complete with maid service, concierge, and local transport. As for the call to prayer, we heard it everywhere we stayed in Turkey, and added to our memories. If that's what you're looking for, then perhaps Kusadasi or Ismir would be a better choice. Or a non-Muslim country. But if you want an authentic aegean/Turkish experience, then book Goldsmith House asap.
“Beautiful and Peaceful Cottage” This cottage is set in a lovely garden and is beautifully appointed. The pool area is very pretty so it makes for a relaxing place to hang out after a long day of sightseeing. The woman who rents the house, Alison, was extremely helpful in every way from recommending places to see to naming the fruit we couldn't identify at the market. I highly recommend the Garden House.
“5 star accomodation in Selcuk” When we stepped into Ionia House we felt like we were home. Not only did it have all the comforts of home but it captured the history of the Selcuk area as well. The attention to detail throughout the house was immaculate. So many positives...the spectacular view, comfortable beds, amazing shower, well equipped kitchen, great pool and relaxing outdoor area with a wood fire. We were an easy walk from the centre of town, local markets, buses and taxis. Alison was a superb hostess who helped with anything and everything, whenever we needed it. From airport transfers to restaurant recommendations, Alison was always happy to help.
This house was great to stay in with our three young children. It was a very quiet part of town and we felt safe and secure throughout our stay.
We would highly recommende Ionia house to anyone who is travelling to Selcuk.
“A haven of tranquility” We stayed here for 2 weeks.
The house is beautifully finished! I loved dinner on the roof terrace at sunset with the stunning views of the town. Lazing by the pool in the shade with a cool beer and a good book followed by a refreshing dip in the pool was pure relaxation. The town is only a short walk away - we bought delicious local produce there to grill on the barBQ at our leisure.
I loved walking up to the hilltop nearby, through what felt like a village with the locals wondering why I was venturing out in the afternoon heat.
