Description

A charming and traditional rustic farmhouse, with dovecote/pigeonnier, dating from 1760.Au Ciel Bleu is a house full of character situated in the heart of the Gorges de L'Aveyron - beautiful rivers, medieval towns, limestone cliffs and rolling hills.

Extremely spacious open-plan kitchen,dining and living room, with large wood burning stove, T.V./DVD. The kitchen area is very well equipped.

There are two very large bedrooms which could easily be family rooms.

1 Mattress available. The house is spacious enough for up to10 guests, but a surcharge of £20 per person per week (towards water and electricity) after 6 guests, is required.

Bedroom 1 has a king-size bed and an excellent double sofa-bed. There is an adjacent shower room, and access to the back terrace.

Bedroom 2 is a self-contained annexe with it's own entrance and large en suite shower room. There is a good quality double bed and lounge area with a very comfortable double sofa bed. No kitchen,

No kitchen, but there is a dining table, fridge and electric kettle (Great if two couples/families are sharing the house).

Two terraces, back and front of the house, to make the most of the sun and privacy. Also 1/2 acre garden two minutes walk away. (Children's plastic pool available for the back terrace, perfect for little ones in the hot weather.

Mattress available for extra guests (stored under the king-sized bed).

WIFI available.

Parking for two cars in front of the house.

Linen and towels ARE NOT included in the price (duvets, pillows and blankets ARE included). We have purposely made this flexible to lower the rental price for those who are able to bring their own linen/towels. (However, LINEN AND TOWELS ARE AVAILABLE FOR HIRE).

Cleaning (including emptying bins and getting rid of bottles in the recycling areas) is NOT INCLUDED. Again, this is to keep prices down for those who are willing to clean themselves. However, a CLEANING SERVICE is available.

Camping in the half acre garden, 2 mins from the house, is permitted.(Families with teenagers have enjoyed this option!!)

Our caretakers will do your first shop if you require this (useful if you arrive late). They will also prepare you a meal and leave it in the fridge, again useful if you arrive late. (Stipulate dietary needs).

Access - Car recommended, but shops, Saturday market, library/tourist information, excellent pharmacy, and Health Centre, bakery,, small supermarket, hairdresser and a good restaurant (overlooking the river) are within walking distance, in Varen.

TRAIN station is 20 mins walk from the house. Trains to Toulouse (1 hour). NARBONNE and (beautiful town/beach and Med!!) only 1 hour by train from Toulouse. (2 hours from Au Ciel Bleu, by car). 2.5 hours from Toulouse to Barcelona. 2 hours to Grussian and Cap'dage if you want a few days by the beach, but you need to take a car.

Varen is excellent for river swimming and paddling by the beach for small children.

There is an outstanding outdoor swimminp pool in St Antonin, only a 5 minute walk from the centre of the town. This is a new pool, in a stunning location.

River swimming in Laguepie (15 mins drive)I is very popular.

Canoes for hire in St Antonin, truly invigorating and stunningly beautiful to sail through the gorge. Good value too, 15 euros per person for the day!

Bicycles for hire in St Antonin (Excellent cycle paths)

The cinema is very popular in St Antonin.

In this area of natural beauty with meandering rivers, hilltop villages and historic towns you can enjoy both stunning countryside and impressive architecture. Au Ciel Bleu is perfectly located to discover the cultural wealth of this sunny part of South West France. Cordes-sur-Ciel (30 mins) is one of France's biggest walled medieval cities. The city is the jewel amongst the Albigentian hilltop villages, and is well worth a visit. Sunflower fields and rolling hills will line your way and local wine growers will always invite you to a glass of wine. From Au Ciel Bleu one can visit no less than nine of France's official and most beautiful towns and villages, each one of them within easy distance, like Najac in the Aveyron department, Puycelci, Castelnau-de-Montmiral in the Tarn department and Bruniquel in the Tarn-et-Garonne department. A day in Albi is a must, with its impressive cathedral and quaint streets. And if you like shopping, this is the place to go.
