At Grotto Bay guests enjoy a serene tropical environment overlooking their own private sandy beach.

Our two beachfront studio units, with their sweeping deck, are situated on an extremely scenic, calm bay -- with gorgeous sunsets!

Guests can swim, snorkel or paddle board in a calm bay, kayak to nearby uninhabited cays or cast a line out to a fat mutton snapper. Here you’ll find beautiful seclusion, personalized service and luxury accommodations, all at a very affordable rate. Paddle boards, kayaks, snorkeling equipment, shorty wetsuits and fishing hand-lines are all complimentary.

The spacious deck connects two identical units (each renting for $145/night) and a fully equipped guest kitchen. The sandy beach is just steps away – with no neighbors in sight. Snorkelers will find a veritable nursery of tropical fish, an occasional turtle and at special times, even some playful dolphins.

The Turtle Room featured here (and the Triggerfish Room in a separate listing) is designed for couples, with a queen bed, ceiling fan, air conditioning, TV and DVD player. Each unit also has microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. Guests enjoy high quality linens and many of the extras that make a vacation comfortable.

The new, complete, open-air kitchen is adjacent to the guest units and is fully equipped for easy meals and drink libations. Each unit has its own private deck area (with ocean view) for lounging and dining. Families and couples traveling together can enjoy getting together for meals or socializing on a central deck area overlooking the beach.

We enjoy providing personalized service and can arrange for meal reservations, island transportation, and guides for fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving. Although Grotto Bay is very secluded, it’s just a short stroll to restaurants, two grocery stores, a liquor store, car rental and gas station..

We welcome children, and our guests have full access to the beach horseshoe pit, single and tandem kayaks and paddle boards. Grotto Bay is a truly unique property with its tropical gardens and sculptures and a three-chambered underground cave system featuring stalactites and stalagmites and five species of bats. Rising from the beautiful grotto are banana palms, papayas and avocado.

The first week in June is a special time here. For three days the Long Island Regatta unfolds right off of our beach. Guests can settle into a beach chair, dig their toes in the sand, watch the sailboats line up, and then listen for the gun that starts the races. You’ll have the best seat on the island for watching these Bahamian-built, traditional sailboats, reminiscent of the days when they served as lifelines to other islands.

Without a doubt, Long Island is certainly the friendliest of all the Out-Islands, and one of the most beautiful. We’d like to share it with you!

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Jean (the owner) a message.

If Jean (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
