Description

Cactus House is a 'World Class' property sitting majestically in a peaceful location on the hillside overlooking Jolly Harbour. It offers absolute privacy and tranquility for your total relaxation, yet is only a minute across the road from two of the best beaches on Antigua or from the shops and restaurants of Jolly Harbour.

This is a house on a grand scale, only finished in 2015 being built virtually without regard to cost with the intention to accommodate up to eight people in great comfort, but equally popular with couples who want the ultimate in space and privacy. It is situated adjacent to the 5* Sugar Ridge Hotel whose facilities like gym, spa and restaurants are available for your use. The location of the house is especially perfect if you want something quiet, but still close to the beaches, golf, supermarket, and facilities offered by Jolly Harbour.

In total there are about 10 good restaurants within walking distance, all offering an excellent variety and value. Two of the best beaches on Antigua are just a 10 minute walk away - or about one minute by car.

St Johns, the Capital is about 20 minutes away and you are given free transfers from your port or airport so transfers only take about half an hour.

Designed around the Caribbean climate, the house has a great deal of covered outdoor area for 'al fresco' living - additionally there are two open sun decks, so it is your choice to be in or out of the suns rays. The infinity pool is the largest in the area, plus has an additional shallow play area, shower and a pool bathroom - the pool deck alone is over 1000 sq ft in size and has an additional covered area for the hotter times of the day. At night the pool comes alive as you can programme the water to a colour sequence to suit your mood. Perhaps try racy red, crystal white , cool blue or verdant green - for kids try 'disco' mode with all colours pulsating together !

The whole house was designed to offer stunning uninterrupted 360' views, so from any of the decks you can see the Caribbean, passing cruise ships, Jolly Harbour, its yachts, Montserrat volcano plus many small islands and the lush countryside.

There is a choice of dining undercover indoor or out, or alternatively outside on the upper sundeck where the BBQ is situated - these upper decks enjoy both the natural cooling breeze and dazzling views. The kitchen is also on this floor and is lavishly equipped with top end appliances for self catering should you wish.

The lounge is large with a double height vaulted ceiling and many wide double doors opening onto the top garden and the terraces - this to maximise the cooling breezes and natural lighting. There is a computer desk with USB charging points and free high speed 4G WiFi which is also available poolside. A local cellphone is also provided for your use .

The four bedrooms are all air-conditioned with 'en suite' bathrooms , all of very good size - three of the bedrooms look directly out over the ocean.

On the lower floor there is also a laundry room, plus parking for up to four cars.

There is a sense of occasion when you first see the house perched on a massive stone plinth and surrounded by the green forest of trees. When you drive up your private road past towering palms, looking back over the terraced gardens you will see the azure Caribbean ocean stretching far into the distance

Antigua is regarded as one of the safest Caribbean islands and the Jolly Harbour area more so . However security at the house is enhanced with single key triple locking on external doors and armoured hurricane proof laminated glass in all windows.

On arrival all guests are met at the airport by our driver and then at the Villa by Yasmine our Estate manager, who will explain the house, general area and attractions, plus provide the complimentary welcome pack to ensure your holiday gets off to a great start. So please let us know in advance if you have any special requests and we will gladly arrange for you.

Both the Villa manager and driver are at your disposal 24/7 should you have any problems or need advice. If you want a rental car, please enquire about discounts which have been arranged for our guests. Additionally there are also special deals available in some restaurants and for yacht charter- again please ask.

Because of its hillside location, Cactus's house is built on 2 levels and with gardens on 3 terraces, thus it is not recommended for people with walking difficulties. However Cactus has a sister property ( see Holiday Lettings ref 222799) which is the 3 bedroom pool Villa situated at the bottom of the hill, just down from Cactus. This is predominately on the flat and can accommodate 6 people - it is also available at a discount for larger parties requiring both properties. Please ask for details.

Getting around

The location of Cactus is superb as a short walk takes you to the beaches, supermarket or restaurants. However if you want transport to further afield tourist sites or beaches, inter-island buses stop at the end of the driveway, taxis are based a few hundred yards away, or of course we can organise discounted car-hire to delivered to you at the house.
