“Terrific Place” We spent a week at the end of February in antigua and Halls waterfront cottage. The cottage was great - clean, well-maintained and very comfortable, with a terrific view of the water looking west. The deck and private pool are a treat. The cottage is also ideally located, convenient to restaurants and a grocery store as well as ten minutes by car from some of the best beaches you'll ever see. Awesome accommodation.

“gorgeous hillside guesthouse, interesting & thoughtful hosts” Karol and Merv Stewart make this a special place, from the lovely guesthouse to helping with tours & advice. I don't mind the flowers, lizards & hummingbirds, and dview of Montserrat either. One morning Merv walked through the yard picking limes, mangos and soursop for me. It's about 4/10 of a mile to the main road, where you can catch a bus every few minutes to the supermarket, casino, marina etc. in Jolly Harbour-- or just walk a mile to get there. 4 beaches within a mile and a half, with restaurants at a couple of the beaches. If you like birds, they got plenty at the salt pond just landward of Darkwood beach.

“A great experience overall” We took (U.S.) spring break down in Antigua this year, our first time in the Caribbean. It was my vote, since I am an avid sailor, and Antigua is an international sailing destination (sadly spring break was the week before Antigua sailing race week!) Initially looking at the price of resorts, we quickly decided that this was not cost-effective for us, specifically because we have 3 kids. We were very pleasantly surprised that VRBO.com listed properties in Antigua, and through fortune found that Sunset Villa not only had fantastic reviews, but was also available. We jumped on it immediately and the waiting began... to get there (Carol was great to deal with and very helpful and informative leading up to the visit) - I should also mention that we sought out Dickenson Bay because it's one of the best family beaches. So eventually the day came to travel - standard trip with connection through Miami. Then we met Trevor: what a great gentleman! He brought us to the grocery store for supplies (food is expensive - research what you can bring down), helped us with all manner of questions and requests, was there when we needed him and stayed out of the way otherwise ;) He helped us set up a couple of day trips, and generally was our 'Man Friday' on the island - like a mega-concierge. We were there for 7 nights, and even though it's not a huge island, we still didn't see everything there was to see. Needless to say we had a great time. The villa was larger than we expected, and well equipped for a larger family than us 5. It wasn't a resort, but we didn't pay for a resort. There is a little bluff-like 5 min. walk down to the beach, and we took a (respectful) short-cut through Halcyon - our 4yr-old managed the walk just fine, but I'd say you'd have to be elderly or in a wheelchair for it to be a real issue. Since we would go to the beach for a half-day anyway it was never a problem for us. The villa had everything we needed - towels, grill, games, wifi, even a couple of beers in the fridge! A chef was also offered and I think we would do it next time. Again, we were also very pleasantly surprised with the level of information we were provided with (like what to expect at the airport) to make it a great experience from landing to departure. "Thank you!" Overall, Sunset Villa is a GREAT experience and GREAT value, and Antigua is PARADISE - just put yourself in Trevor's hands when you get there for the best time. Would not hesitate to go back to Sunset Villa and have been recommending to friends (who thought they could not afford down there, in particular) [Oh, one last tip: if you do not have a U.S. passport, try to avoid Miami on your return trip to U.S. destinations: immigration there is the worst I have ever seen and we almost missed our 2-hour layover connection.]

Antigua and Barbuda holidays

The Caribbean island of Antigua and her sister island Barbuda are deliciously hot all year round, making great holiday destinations for those who love the sun, sea and sand! Holiday villas and condos overlook white beaches and palm trees frame the views, while watersports and a vibrant nightlife complement the relaxing surroundings.

Palm Breeze, 1 Hamilton House, lovely views near Jolly Harbour and Beach
Brilliant holiday

We really loved our holiday here, it was so nice and private but it was also close to the shops and the Harbour and the local beaches....which are AMAZING! We went to Jolly Beach pretty much every day. I mean, why wouldn’t you?! Jenny the local host was lovely and really looked after us., nothing was too much trouble. My tips would be 1. If you do hire a car, make sure it’s a 4x4 for the roads in Antigua 2. buy loads of 5 Litre canisters of water on the day(s) you hire a car so then your walking trips to the nearby Epicurean supermarket are just for light daily stuff. 3. Make sure you get out on one of the boat trips which pick up from Jolly Harbour - that's the best way to see the island and the one we went on was on top of their Covid safe practices (they took our temperature before we got on board and it was less crowded so we could be 2m apart in our households). Overall we just loved it and we can’t wait to go back.see more
Villa 432C- Bananaquits
Bananaquits, home from home!

Lovely place to stay for peace and quiet, although there were a few buildings being refurbished nearby. You definitely need a golf buggy to get around as the walk to the shops is a workout in itself. The villa was well equipped with what we needed as we were quarantined most of the time and Stacy-Ann was always available if we needed anything. Would definitely stay here again, it was home from home see more
Villa 405 St James Club Mamora Bay Antigua
Perfectly situated for stunning views

We had a very enjoyable stay at Villa 405. The home is beautifully decorated and located higher on the hillside which makes for wonderful views. There were a few hiccups but these were quickly and efficiently resolved by Rex and the hotel staff. We opted for the all-inclusive package and highly recommend it. The food was delicious with a choice of restaurants and changing menus. We aren't big drinkers but the bars appeared to be well stocked. Aside from the food, we loved the activities on offer - played tennis, pickle ball, went kayaking, gym, kids activities like bracelet making and painting...all on site. There are also 5 or 6 swimming pools, the nearest to the villa is about a two minute walk I think. One negative point is that the WiFi is very poor. It's the hotel WiFi and it doesn't seem to provide a strong signal anywhere on the hotel site. At some points you can get enough signal on the villa's balcony to check emails and send whats app photos etc. The signal is marginally stronger around reception. We rented a car for a few days and enjoyed activities off site. The car park is also just a short walk from the villa. We'd recommend Villa 405 and would book again ourselves.see more

Fantastic stay

Just home from a fantastic stay at this property in Jolly Harbour . We were there for 3 weeks and ate in quite a lot and there was everything you needed in the kitchen . The beds are very comfortable , as is the settee. We hired a car but also walked around Jolly Harbour a lot , it’s about a 20 minute flat walk from the villa to the shops and restaurants and a great way to meet the other residents . You can use the tennis courts and pool which is never busy , but you will need to book the tennis as the courts are . The north beach is a 2 minute walk away and has breathtaking sunsets , the south beach is a 5 minute drive or 25 minute walk and is stunning. This villa is lived in and homely , there are issues in that the plaster has cracks and the paint needs touching up , but it’s clean and comfortable. It’s in a quiet area so there is peace but boats and people moving about to keep you entertained while you’re eating breakfast. Jolly Harbour is clean and very well kept , the staff work very hard looking after the place . We ate at every restaurant and they are all very good, but we went to petals cafe for breakfast and lunch a lot . The food and coffee is superb and the staff lovely. They work to Caribbean time and everything is made in a tiny kitchen with a four ring cooker . Grab a coffee and chat to the other customers and wait for your food , you’ll get great information and tips and the foods worth waiting for ! A suggestion for the owners/ agents we rented a car and the security kept asking for a car pass to let us in , if one could be left in the condo that would be good.see more
