Location description from owner

The Provence region

Rustrel is located in the most fabulous region in all Provence - "The Luberon Valley". This is the region made famous by Peter Mayle in his "A Year in Provence" book, and it more than lives up to its reputation. The countryside is stunningly beautiful, with rolling vineyards and gentle hills. And the so-called "Golden Triangle" of the magical villages of Roussillon, Gordes, Menerbes, Bonnieux and Lacoste are perched on the hilltops waiting for you to explore them.

We have prepared a guidebook for guests with suggestions for our favorite places to see, where to eat, and what to do. Upon booking, we are happy to share this with you.

Rustrel

Rustrel is a wonderfully Provencal village nestled at the foot of the Parc Naturel Régional du Luberon. The village has a population of around 670 people and is known for its amazing nearby ochre cliffs called Le Colorado Provençal.

The village of Rustrel is dominated by a 17th century château. Recently restored, the château now contains the mayor's office and a number of gites. Rustrel has an outside swimming pool open in summer. There is a town square and pétanque court open to all.

Not that you will want to leave our home "Au Coin des Amis", but just in case there are many nearby villages and things to explore.
Head over to Chateauneuf-du-Pape region for wine-tasting, hike incredible trails in the ocre formations, meander in the daily local markets, explore stunning hilltop villages, take a cooking course -- all within a short distance.
