Location description from owner

Northeast Aegean Islands region

Samos one of the greener island in the eastern Aegean sea, just off the coast of Asia Minor, is exceptionally beautiful, with verdant mountains, sandy and pebbled beaches, clear blue sea and fertile plains. Here the muscatel grapes, from which the famous muscatel wine is made are cultivated. The civilization of the island, the birthplace of Pythagoras (~570BC), the great philosopher and mathematician, as well as Aristarchos the Astronomer, reached its zenith in the 6th century B.C., when under the rule of the Tyrant Polycrates many public works (the aqueduct, outstanding harbour, temples) were built.

Today, many of these monuments, the Classical Greek temple (7th century BC), sanctuary to Hera, Efpalinion Orygma (a 1036 metre aqueduct Tunnel, superb example of ancient engineering) built during Polycrates' time to supply the city with water, remains of the Great Wall and others may be visited. In addition to the exceptional good archaeological museum in Samos town and the nearly as good Pythagorio's archaeological museum and the Paleontological Museum in Mitilini village, monasteries like Spiliani, Megali Panagia and the Holly Cross are also open to visitors. All of these in addition to the warm, comfortable climate and traditional Samian hospitality, will ensure that you have an unforgettable holiday that you will soon want to repeat.

“Tranquillity, sunshine, beautiful garden, clear sea within a stone's throw”

Reviewed 9 Aug 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Samos and were made extremely welcome by apartment owners Loukia and Manoli who met us with their golf buggy to make the transition from taxi to accommodation as easy as possible. The apartment itself was beautifully presented and extremely comfortable, with a lovely basket of the owner's local produce providing a special welcome on arrival. Everything necessary was to hand for an easy, relaxing time - especially wonderful was the pretty balcony view of the sea and immaculate garden, so close that you could hear the waves gently rolling into shore - pure tranquillity! Tavernas offering delicious food were within easy walking distance, and nearby moped hire made it possible to view more of this green and fertile island and its many beautiful beaches. Thoroughly impressed and feeling well rested, we hope we will see more of Samos, its friendly people and its resident cats very soon.

“A Perfect Holiday!”

Reviewed 25 Nov 2011

Nice studio in a fantastic location, an easy walk in to Samos town where there is a wide choice of shops, bars and restaurants. One minute from the beach, ideal for swimming, snorkelling and relaxing on the sunbeds, just the right amount without spoiling the atmosphere of the beach. Also close to the local shop with good prices for those who want to cater for themselves. The hosts were fantastic, very welcoming and very informative about their island and we thank them for their hospitality which was outstanding. We look forward to visiting again soon. Jane and Steve

“Great Samos Vacation 2011”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2011

It was a nice experience in Samos including the hospitality of the house owner, Mr and Mrs Karras. The house position is very nice from sea site point of view as well as for the vicinity of the city centre. The comfort of the accommodation will be even better after the competition of the planned house work. We greatly wish to return in Samos, at Roditses beach villa's.
