From the owner

The Professor's Home is located just outside Roatto d'Asti, a little village in the heart of Lower Monferrato, Piedmont, Italy. It was our family house for over a century; now we rent it out as temporary residence to guests looking for a viable and cheap alternative to hotels and B&B.

We can accommodate up to eleven people in 2100 sq ft, and we rent for one to four weeks.

The Professor's Home was built on top of a hill by our great grandfather between 1890 and 1920; it is a traditional Piedmontese farmhouse, which was refurbished and modernized over the years without overlooking the distinctive traits of country life: the hayloft, the big shed for the tools at the back, the large pavement for agricultural work at the front. The house is surrounded by a partially fenced 2.4 acres private property.

The thick brick walls keep the house cool even in the hottest summers, making air conditioning unnecessary; during the winter we use central heating and two fireplaces, one in the kitchen and one in the living room, finally you can use the wood-burning stove for heating as well as for cooking.

The house rests on a large cellar, that hosts our tiny wine production; many rooms are large, each of them measuring about 300 sq ft, with vintage furniture and windows screens.

Downstairs there is the living room, whose floor dates from the early twentieth century, with a fireplace, a Petrof upright piano and a vaulted ceiling featuring floral decorations; the kitchen, with a wood-burning stove and another fireplace; from the kitchen there is also the access area to the main bathroom, where the washing machine stands. The TV set with satellite dish and decoder is in the kitchen; it comes complete with a DVD/DivX player and a cassette recorder.

Upstairs there are a second bathroom and four bedrooms, two facing south and two facing north. Each of them sleeps two to four people.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Angelo (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
