The Limassol District
Pissouri is situated on the edge of the Limassol region, so affords access to both the Limassol and Paphos regions. Both cities are about 25 minutes away via the motorway, or 35 minutes via the scenic coast roads.
Limassol itself is very different from Pissouri, being a large, bustling cosmopolitan city with countless restaurants, night-clubs, discos etc. It boasts a water-park, a port, a medieval castle and a sculpture park, to name just some of its attractions. The road from Pissouri to Limassol takes you past many fascinating archaeological sites, including Kourion, an ancient city that dates back to the 12th century B.C.
Paphos is another cosmopolitan city, smaller than Limassol, with a fantastic harbour area, great restaurants and shopping, plus some world-famous archaeological sites, such as the Tomb of Kings. The road from Pissouri to Paphos takes you past the beauty spot, Aphrodite's Rock (Petra Tou Romiou), which is 15 minutes from Lemontree Villa, as well as other well-known archaeological sites.
Golfers are well-catered for, with Aphrodite Hills and Secret Valley a 15 minute drive from the Villa and the British Forces club at Happy Valley a 20 minute drive (this is cheaper but has astro-turf greens). There is also horse-riding nearby and, in the winter, ski-ing in the Troodos Mountains. Mountain biking and walking are very popular.
All of this is just a small taste of what is available within a short drive of our villa.
Pissouri is a charming village that has still retained its Cypriot character. It is situated halfway between Paphos and Limassol , making it an excellent base for exploring the region. The village is situated on a hill-side, 800 metres above the Pissouri Bay area. As you walk (or drive) around the village, you are constantly struck by the breath-taking views. There are lots of tavernas, as well as several bars and take-aways, but no noisy night-clubs. The village square, located at the heart of the village, is a great place to sit with a coffee or something stronger and watch the world go by. It hosts a very popular, weekly, Cyprus Night between May and October, where the music and dancing are enjoyed by both holiday-makers and locals. Summer events are also held in the Pissouri amphitheatre, situated just a short walk from the village square. There are several supermarkets and a wonderful bakery as well as banks, a post office and a variety of other shops.
Pissouri Bay has a sand and shingle, Blue Flag beach. It is usually warm enough to swim in the sea until at least the end of December. During the summer months there are water-sports and sun-loungers for hire and throughout the year there are several, excellent tavernas, some overlooking the beach (a particular favourite of ours is Yialos).

"Home from home - with better views!"
Having had several two month winter holidays at this villa, it feels like a second home. It has several key advantages for us. Firstly, the free car and wi-fi - and what a car! Much better than we can afford to rent; big, air-conditioned, automatic and with Cyprus being left-hand drive, we've been able to explore extensively and safely. Secondly, the villa itself, which is VERY comfortable thanks to a great bed, big sofas, all the facilities of home and plenty of room for entertaining (we've had parties of 18 people in the garden and 12 indoors). It is perfectly positioned in the village - close to the action but in a quiet area. Finally, Pissouri itself, the idyllic Cypriot village. We love it!
