Avoid all the tourists and revel in nature on the Forgotten Coast! Pearl Cottage on the Bay is located on Mashes Sands Island, Panacea, Florida, part of The Forgotten Coast in the heart of oyster country. Positioned on the border of Franklin and Wakulla counties, this classic Old Florida-style, mid-century modern home is nestled in a private grove of mature live oak and longleaf pine trees. The house sits right on Ochlockonoee Bay, and has its own white-sand shoreline where you can fish, crab or launch a kayak or paddle board--or simply relax in the Florida sunshine.

Located right on the clear blue Gulf of Mexico, Mashes Sands Park is just a mile away from Pearl Cottage on the Bay. The park includes a boat launch, fishing pier, hiking trail, and white sandy swimming beach. A 13-mile long bike trail runs by the house and connects Mashes Sands Park to the historical town of Sopchoppy.

The area is one of the best places in Florida for fishing, bird watching, swimming, photography, and fresh seafood. The shallow, sandy, Gulf beach at Mashes Sands Park is ideal for children and adults.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Doug (the owner) a message.

If Doug (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
