ON SITE CHEF SERVICES, complete transport arrangements, delicious breakfast included in the rental rate, all tours can be arranged for you so that you spend your vacation having fun instead of trying to plan your next activity. All of the 6 bedrooms are proper bedrooms with PRIVATE bathroom, no dorm style layout or curtain walls, enjoy the company of your group in the shared areas and retain complete privacy when desired. THE ONLY indoor pool/game room/jacuzzi/gym in the area, why, because no one goes swimming in the rain! Groups enjoy our covered pool house till the wee hours some nights, having a blast! Let us help you tailor your vacation to exactly what you want. Excellent internet and security! We have been in the Lake Arenal area for over 18 years and can advise you and your special group on the tours that you may really enjoy and avoid the tourist traps! If you are renting a car or using our driver services. Navigating from the Sunset is easy to do. There are only a few main roads in Costa Rica and although they can be rough in spots, we are here to make sure you know where you are going and how to get there. I draw maps for almost all our groups, even when they have GPS because I will call your attention to certain landmarks or signs that won't be marked on printed maps. We are here to make your getting to where you need to be hassle free!

My name is Patrick Hughes, I finished building"The Sunset" in 2002, after buying the property and existing 1 bedroom house in 2000. We operate with the services of a fine boutique hotel. We are fully staffed, to offer you our fantastic complimentary breakfast. Set up and arrange any tour in the area. Provide dinner service. Arrange transport services and in general help in any way we can so that you can maximize your time in paradise and have an unforgettable, hassle free time. We are here to meet you upon your arrival and help you schedule any and all activities. All while retaining a complete sense of privacy for your group. We are there when you need us!

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
