Our vacation home "Gone Bananas" has two air-conditioned separate units. "Top Banana" is a spacious 2- bedroom , 2 -bath home. Fully equipped gourmet kitchen. Open great room and dining area. Large breezy covered deck with ceiling fans. Open lookout deck for sunbathing or stargazing. .
Free Wi-fi internet access, Dish Flex Plan TV plus Miami local channels. Sports channel added for a fee.
"Banana Split" , a separate ground level unit, can be rented in conjunction with Top Banana if additional space is needed. (Both units together accommodate up to 8 people)
Our back up generator powers the ENTIRE home, including the CENTRAL AIR -CONDITIONING. Occasionally, there are electrical power outages, but not at Gone Bananas!!
Short walk to Sea of Abaco and our private community dock where you can safely swim or snorkel in the crystal clear waters....sunbathe, kayak, and see a spectacular sunset as you sip your favorite beverage.
Quiet, serene Lubbers Quarters is away from the frenzy of tourist attractions, but easily accessible to many islands in your rental boat. Abaco is a paradise for boating, snorkeling, diving. fishing, beachcombing or just unwinding and relaxing.
Lubbers Quarters lies protected from ocean swells in the clear, turquoise Sea of Abaco. Located between Marsh Harbour and Elbow Cay (pronounced “key”), approximately 3 miles south of Hope Town, it is one mile long and ½ mile wide. Enjoy secluded beaches for swimming, sunbathing or shell collecting, paths for walking or jogging among lush tropical flora and foliage, bird watching, and lots of peace and quiet. There are no bright lights, and the night sky is a star-studded showcase!!!
There are no commercial establishments on Lubbers. Fresh fish is available from local fisherman, Michael Schreiner, and delicious baked goods are available from Lubbers Bakery. Casual and fine island dining and shops are nearby on Elbow Cay or other picturesque out islands.. A 10 to 45 minute boat ride, and you will experience the best of Abaco from our central location,
From dropping a hand line off our dock to battling giant blue marlin offshore, Abaco is a fisherman's paradise. Lobster may be caught in season, and conchs are plentiful year round. Several charter captains are available for offshore fishing or bone fishing in the flats.
Numerous coral reefs provide spectacular snorkeling and diving and make up some of the best marine-life adventures in the world. You can “do it yourself”, or there are several experienced dive operators available for tours, excursions, training, certification and charter. The three best reefs for snorkeling & diving are Sandy Cay Reef, Fowl Cay Reef and Johnny's Cay. Sandy Cay Reef is in the Pelican Cays Land and Sea Park and has moorings for boats up to 25'. Fowl Cay is part of the Bahamian National Trust Preserve. All these are accessible with your rental boat or can be part of a tour with a local charter. We can also offer "local knowledge" on some off-the-beaten paths for exploring and snorkeling. An awesome underwater experience awaits you as you mingle with the Sea of Abaco's colorful marine life
From your base on Lubbers Quarters, you're minutes away from sandy beaches and sea life exploring. You may be the only humans on some of the beaches, or there are others where you can connect with locals and tourists.
