Le Verseau

The gîte Le Verseau (‘Aquarius’), located next to the owner’s main house on a 1-acre plot, is fully and comfortably furnished and offers complete privacy with private terraces, independent access and a personal parking space.

Upon entering, the kitchen is immediately to your right (complete with dishwasher, refrigerator, Senseo coffee machine, oven and 4-hob electric cooker) and the WC is to your left. Continue on to enter the spacious living area where you will find a double sofa-bed, a single chair (folding out into a comfortable single bed), smart TV (French internet TV with English and German channels, but also suitable for streaming), radio / CD player and a well-stocked bookcase.

Behind the living area is the main bedroom with comfortable twin beds and adjacent to that is the bathroom with a walk-in shower and cupboard space.

From the bedroom there is direct access to a large private terrace with a nearby oak tree and several olive trees offering additional shaded seating, and from the living area there are sliding doors on to a smaller, south-facing terrace.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.

The swimming pool (5 x 11m) with ‘beach entry’ (sloped) access is available between 09:00 and 18:00 from April to September and is shared jointly with the owners, although we ask that you sunbathe on your own terraces.

The site is unfortunately not suitable for children and pets are not allowed.

The owners are a retired Dutch couple who have lived at the property since 2010. They are not always present, so the rental is run by the (French) neighbour. The booking and contract phase are done by the owners, who in addition to Dutch also speak English, French and German.

Lorgues is just over an hour’s drive (60 miles) from Nice airport and Marseille and Toulon are also within easy reach (about an hour by car).

The area is made up of hills covered in olive trees and vineyards.

Le Verseau is a 20-minute walk from the centre of Lorgues, which has a large Provencal market on Tuesday mornings (known very well in the surrounding area) and a flea market on Friday mornings.

In the summer there are many evening events, but the house is far enough away not to be affected by the noise.

There are many restaurants from the ‘King of truffles’ Chez Bruno to excellent pizzerias (and small local restaurants with big, shaded terraces) and they are all pleasant to dine at on warm summer evenings and long lunches during the day. In Les Arcs (20mins away) you will also find a Michelin starred restaurant Les Relais de Moines with an excellent taster menu for €65.

There are 2 large supermarkets, more than 10 bakeries, several banks and – of course – many good wine chateaus.

8 miles away is the larger city of Draguignan and popular places such as St. Tropez, Cannes and Nice are only about an hour away. Monaco is about 90mins and of course just beyond that the Italian border.

Lorgues is about 25 miles from Lac St. Croix and the Gorges du Verdon.

For golf enthusiasts St. Endreol is about a 20min drive away and there are several other courses in the surrounding area.

For your orientation: The accommodation is located near the following places: Draguignan, St. Tropez, Sainte Maxime, Nice and Aix en Provence.
