According to the World Health Organisation the area has the "healthiest climate in the world". Alicante is a coastal university city with an impressive harbour and a tree lined promenade. La Zenia

La Zenia is a beautiful Spanish coastal village with pine, palm tree and Bouganvillea lined streets. Its impressive large sandy beach is safe for swimming and monitored by life guards throughout the summer. The sea is warm and rich in marine life, making it ideal for snorkelling or fishing from the rocks. The sea slopes gently away from the beach, and the smaller beach, Cala Captain, has a shallow lagoon ideal for small children.From the main beach in La Zenia there are several beautiful sandy coves accessed by road or via a lovely coastal walking path. In the summer months, La Zenia beach includes all usual facilities – bars, shaded sun beds, banana boat, jet skis and pedalos. The watersports are situated at the far end of the beach to avoid encroaching on the peace and quiet. All this is within a few minutes walk from the apartment. Within La Zenia is a first class country club called Orihuela Costa Resort which welcomes all visitors, whether or not they are staying at its small boutique hotel. There is huge pool with large sunbathing and lawn area, loungers, tennis courts, basket ball area and gymnasium. The pool bar serves drinks, snacks and light meals, plus there is an air-conditioned restaurant. There is a small charge to use the pool or gardens. The La Zenia Hotel, overlooking the beach, offers Saturday evening entertainment open to non-residents. Other local amenities also within walking distance include bars, restaurants, beauty salon, supermarkets, banks, including Paddy's point which has live music most nights and Gogarty's Irish Bar, Local amenities

With a car or using the local bus network, 3 golf courses, horse –riding, go-karting, aqua parks, ten pin bowling, a casino and a wide range of restaurants are all within a short drive. The golf courses within 10-15 minutes drive are Villamartin, Campoamor and Las Ramblas. La Finca (Algorfa) is about 20kms away.

Less than five minutes drive is the La Zenia Boulevard. Which has a massive shoping centre with bars, restaurants, Bowing ally and much much more.

Many other Blue Flag beaches and conservation areas are also close by, including Laguna de Torrevieja, Laguna de La Mata and Dunas de Guardamar.

Mar Menor is only about 20 minutes away by car, while Torrevieja is only 10-15 minutes drive.

A bus service within two minutes of the apartment allows easy and economical journeys into Torrevieja. There is a taxi rank or car hire facilities if required.

Torrevieja has, in recent years, grown to be one of the most popular and important centres on the Mediterranean sea for residential tourism. Torrevieja's seafront offers a lot of restaurants, markets, tapas bars and street cafes on the very wide promenade which is popular for evening strolls.

Enjoy Torrevieja's magnificent Friday market which sells everything from fruit and vegetables to housing accessories and gifts. There is an indoor market in the town centre open daily for fish, vegetables and meat. Fresh seafood and fish can be bought daily at the port of Torrevieja. A new Habernas shopping centre houses many international retailers including H&M, C&A, Zara and Puma.

Each month Torrevieja celebrates a different Festival, or 'Fiesta' with a riot of colour, tradition, music and dance, including la Habanera, a special rejoicing of Torrevieja's sailing history and early salt trade days with Cuba.

Las Salinas

Local to Torrevieja are two large natural saltwater lagoons, known as "las Salinas", the largest in Europe. The concentration of salt in these picturesque lagoons helps to draw the moisture out of the air. This, combined with the very low annual rainfall, creates the unique microclimate with low humidity. With most days being sunny, and with an average temp of 18 degrees centigrade, make this area ideal for sufferers of rheumatism, arthritis and asthma. These lakes are also home to a host of wildlife including large flocks of flamingos.

“Great location”

Stayed here in July for two weeks. That was the 3rd time I stayed in this complex but the first in this apartment. It is 5 mins walk to the beach and also pubs, restaurants and large supermarket. It is also about 15 min walk from the large shopping complex with over 100 shops.if you want more lively places the strip is about 20 mins walk with bars, restaurants and nightclub. The resort is very popular with the Irish and English and lots of good Irish bars with great entertainment are nearby. The pool is lovely with a lifeguard although there are no sun beds but theres enough room to put your towel down on the grass or sit on one of the benches. The apartment also has wifi which saved our party of 4 a fortune on phone bills. The rooftop terrace was massive with great views of the area and also the sea.

Exactly as described and just as in the pictures. The pick up from/return to the airport were smooth and easy. David A and David P were both courteous drivers and pleasant company, very informative about the property and location. A five minute walk to the shops and restaurants and the same in the opposite direction for the beach where you have a choice of three bays within easy reach. The apartment block is very quiet and the pool is clean. The apartment is really well stocked and has air conditioning which we feel is a necessity in Spain in August. The apartment comfortably sleeps up to 5 people but I wonder how comfortable it would be with 5 adults in the lounge area. 2 adults with 3 kids would be fine though. Plus there is a balcony off the lounge and a spacious roof terrace too with loungers and parasols available. We are definitely hoping to go back again soon as it seemed to have everything we need in a holiday.

Really enjoyed our short stay at La Zenia Penthouse Apartment. Good Location, clean and well equipped. Suited our needs perfectly. BBQ on the roof top was an added bonus and the only minor con would be the lack of a table and a few chairs on the rooftop in order to eat up there but that really is only a minor drawback. Overall very pleased with this location.

We stayed here at the end of May with two young children. La Zenia was only about 20 mins from Murcia airport which was ideal although we did hire a car. The apartment was great, very spacious, well equipped and clean. We used the on site swimming pool in the morning and then walked 5 minutes down a quiet road to the beach. There are two equally nice beaches to choose from, perfect for families with toilets, play area / climbing frame and a bar. The sea was safe for children and there are lovely walks along the front to other beaches. I can highly recommend this apartment and we will certainly be returning in the future.

Having stayed in various appartments, in several destinations we have to say this was the best so far. As we don't hire a car the location is excellent, beach and coastal path a few minutes stroll from the appartment with more lovely sandy beaches not too far away in either direction. A good range of supermarkets within a 5/10 minute walk ,well stocked and lots of good quality fresh produce. Lots of Restaurants to choose from and the ones at the front of the appts well worth a try. The appartment is very comfortable and the balcony a real suntrap even in the winter.

We stayed in this apartment in August 2011 with our 3 children, 11, 10 and 6. Apartment was great. It had english channel TV and all the usual mod cons. The apartment was ideal for a family holiday. The beach was only a 5 minute stroll away. The pool at the complex was excellent for children and was never very busy. There is a lifeguard on duty in July and August which meant the adults could totally relax by the pool. Shops, bars and restaurants are all only a 5 minute walk away but not right on your doorstep so it wasn't noisy at night. There are a few markets within 10-15 minute walk from the apartment. There are 2 waterparks about 15 minute drive from the apartment but there is no need to hire a car as the taxi rank is across the road on the roundabout and they are not very expensive. Eating our is very inexpensive and there is a huge choice of restaurants and bar to choose from. A great apartment in an excellent location.
