"Have fallen in love with the place - perfect!"
Really lovely, well-equipped apartment. Beautifully clean with everything we could need. Particularly love the large balcony - spent a lot of time there drinking the local rosé and enjoying the magnificent view of the Maure hills! The swimming pool is a reasonable size and there were rarely that many people there when we went down. It's cold but you really need that with the heat of southern France - very refreshing! It's a few minutes' walk from the village centre and, again, you'll find all you need here including a small but well-stocked Spar, several bakeries, a butcher, various gift and other shops (check out Oliver Henggeler's art studio/shop for some more unique souvenirs) and plenty of restaurants and bars. It's such a lively, interesting village and fascinating to wander round the back streets. You're within easy reach by car of lots more sights including the stunning Côte d'Azur with its beautiful beaches and laid back seaside towns. There are plenty of hillside villages to explore and some truly stunning countryside. You can do boat trips, check out Saint Tropez and just sample the relaxed lifestyle of Provence. And don't forget the local speciality of rosé wines - you're literally surrounded by vineyards, may of them offering tasting sessions. The roads are very winding but you get used to that after a while. I can honestly say this is my best holiday rental find so far - it suited us down to the ground and we're determined to come back. John - look out for my booking request!!!
Hi Sally, Thank you very much for your lovely comments. I'm glad you enjoy our little "piece of paradise" as much as we do. I wish to retire there one day as it really is a fantastic area. Take care John

"An autumn treat"
I spent two weeks in late November, 2014, in this well-equipped and tastefully decorated apartment. The living room, main bedroom and balcony command expansive views over the terracotta roofs of the charmingly sleepy (at this time of year) village to the surrounding valleys, vineyards and distant mountains (a few of which were snow-capped). The kitchen features ample cook and serving ware for a self-catering couple or small family (certainly, plentiful for a single guest). The bathroom, laundry and heating are clean, fully-functioning and faultless. The beds are super-comfortable. There is an elevator and off-street parking. It is really a lovely, peaceful location for a sunny autumn escape from the cold, grey bustle of places further north. It is only a couple of minutes' walk to the village centre where a warm, coffee is best enjoyed in the bright sunshine and crisp air of a calm, off-season morning. Although it is quiet in November, there are a few cafes, restaurants, boulangeries, and even a very convenient mini-supermarket still open in the village. For larger needs or sightseeing, Grimaud, Cogolin and St Tropez. are between 10 and 20 minutes' drive away. Keep an eye out for the restaurant called "La Bastide Blanche" - which is easy to miss - at the roundabout between Grimaud and Cogolin. The food was marvelous, the dining spaces were themed curiously, and the staff were superb.
Dear David, I am glad you enjoy your stay at La garde-Freinet. You are welcome anytime as you've been an excellent guest. All the best, John
