Location description from owner

The Slovenian Littoral Region

Goriška Brda. A must for wine lovers. On the very west side of Slovenia there is a beautiful wine growing region Goriška Brda. It extends through the border (Italy) from the river Soča on the south eastern part to the Idrija River on north western part. The region ends with two old hills; Sabotin on east and Korada on north.

Potrozoz. With its mild Mediterranean climate, this is indeed a place suitable for every generation. In autumn and winter the lively summer holiday resort transforms into a congress centre and hosts many a cultural-entertainment and sporting events.

Krankska Gora. The snow covered slopes from Gozd Martuljek to Podkoren and Planica, situated in the triangle between Austria, Italy and Slovenia, are effectively one big ski slope. Its centre is the romantic alpine village of Kranjska Gora. In summer, the green of the grass blends with the white of the Julian Alps, which are more than 2000 meters high, reaching into the sky with their sharpened peaks. In winter, the entire landscape from the fields to the sky blends into a smooth, rounded, white surface. In the last few decades Kranjska Gora has developed into the largest winter sport centre in Slovenia. The village is situated at a height of 810 meters above sea.

Lipizzaner Horses. Along the border between Italy and Slovenia, in the vicinity of Sezana and Trieste, lies the Horse Stud Lipica, a green oasis in the middle of the Karst. It was founded in the year 1580. Enjoy the unspoilt nature, riding lessons on the back of amazing Lipizzaners, ride through the Lipica Park in an elegant horse-drawn carriage, visit one of the oldest stud farms in the world. Or watch the beautiful Lipizzaner horses dancing to music in the classical dressage riding performances.

Kobarid

Kobarid is a pleasant town dwarfed by towering mountains offering many points of interest and places ideal for hiking, hunting and fishing. Marked trails lead from Kobarid to the mountain tops of Stol, Matajur and Krn and to the waterfall of Kozjak. Invigorating waters of the Nadiža attracts visitors in summer. The Krn mountain range looming over Kobarid marks the fringe of Triglav National Park, a realm of pristine nature harboring breathtaking vistas of mountain wilderness.

Vršic Pass. Is a high-level pass in the Julian Alps of eastern Slovenia. At an altitude of 1611 metres, the pass is the highest in Slovenia, rising from Kranjska Gora in a series of 48 hairpin bends and traversing the high mountains on the Slovenian-Italian-Austrian border before descending into the Soča (Isonzo) valley. At an altitude of around 1200 metres just off the main road is a remote Russian chapel and further on at the high point of the pass there is a mountain hut, where it is possible to buy refreshments or stay overnight.

Lake Bled. Known as the pearl of the Julian Alps that never fails to impress with the fairytale surrounding of a castle rising on the rock above the crystal clear waters of the lake and a tiny island with the church of St. Mary that is placed in the middle of the lake.

Bohinj. Lake Bohinj is Slovenia's largest lake, covering the area of 3.2 square kilometers. It is 4 kilometers long and 45 meters deep at its deepest point. Along its shores countless tracks ascend towards high mountain lakes and sunny pastures, glittering with white snow in winter and welcoming colourful flowers in the summer
