Galle Henna Estate can be booked privately for you and your guests or booked by room only.

Please contact us and indicate how many adults / children, villa privately or by room.


Two suites on the ground floor and three upstairs all have ensuite bathrooms and some have a/c. The high roofs and overhead ceiling fans help to keep the rooms cool.

Ground Floor Suites: Two spacious suites, with A/C and both furnished with antique four-poster double beds open out to the front garden and croquet lawn with views of the swimming pool and paddy fields. Both bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms.

First Floor Suites: Three suites, Master suite with a double bed, lounge & spacious ensuite bathroom. The Master suite has A/C and is ideal for family. A cot is available upon request. Next to Master bedroom is double ensuite bedroom. There is an option of adjoining the two bedrooms. The third bedroom on the first floor is single ensuite bedroom.

All bedrooms open out to private balconies with spectacular views.


Plush sofas, a bar area, work desk, internet connection, selection of books, ipod station, TV and DVD player makes the ground floor living room perfect for relaxation. The adjoining dining area opens out to the back garden. There is a well equipped kitchen. The swimming pool has a lounging area equipped with recliners and tables where snacks or romantic candlelit diners are served upon request.

This manor house is fully equipped and elegantly decorated with South Asian antiques and tapestries. Galle Henna comfortably sleeps nine and children are welcome.

Manjula, a cook who is trained in Sri Lankan and Western cuisine, will gladly assist with grocery shopping as well as meals, for this service there is surcharge accordingly.

By appointment, (for guest staying at Galle Henna Estate.) We can also call on one of our local specialiest who carry out traditional Ayurvedic message.

In addition, aromatheraphy, reflexology and bespoke massage can also be arranged in and around the gardens and pool area, with only the sound of bird song to compliment a truly relaxing, authentic experience.

Our manager lives next door to Galle Henna Estate with his family. He is not full time at Galle Henna Estate however always only a call away. At Galle Henna Estate there are 2 houseboys, whom look after daily domestics and breakfast etc. 2 gardeners night watchman.

“Truly amazing - the best guest house we have ever stayed in”

An exceptional guest house. We rented the whols place and felt really at home. It is immaculate - a beautifully restored old house with antique furniture. Bedrooms spacious with 4 posters with full mosquito nets (not that there were many), amazing bathrooms. Rooms were cleaned every day and beds made, with frequent fresh sheets and towels. The majordomo Manju and his staff look after everything perfectly (he even has a tuk-tuk for guests -at a modest price). Food is amazing - you just agree what you'd like - the cooking is fantastic and they can make lots of Sri Lankan specialities (you just pay for the shopping, bills are provided). Location is very good, a perfect quiet location overlooking paddy fields (with ibis, buffalo and exotic birds). The swimming pool is immaculate and a great place to relax. Nearby are good beaches, but when at home you are away from the tourist trail. Also within easy reach is an ancient rock temple, and Galle. We loved to wander about in Galle fort and see sunsets from the ramparts or the balcony bar of the Rampart Hotel. Galle itself has interesting bustling streets and an extraordinary department store that sells 'everything'! This house is exceptional in every way!

My partner and I stayed for 10 magical days at Polheena estate in early September. From the minute the gates opened to reveal the smiling staff waiting to greet us, the beautiful grounds and the stunning villa, our hearts were sold. The villa has been incredibly tastefully furnished and renovated to reflect granduer of old but great living for today. The estate is like an oasis, the pool area serene and peaceful, where we enjoyed both brekfast and dinner. The food was amazing - we chose to stay in mostly rather than eat out! The manager and the staff were so incredibly friendly, kind and helpful. when it came time to leave we were both rather emotional, such was the impact of our stay, we are already planning our trip back! if we could rate it more than 5 we would!

absolutely recommend this place. The rooms are beautifully decorated with Antiques, the pool and garden are fabulous, the food was the best we ha in all of our trip and the surrounding areas really gave us true insight into rural life in Sri Lanka.

Stunning beautifully furnished colonial house with four poster beds and wonderfully luxurious bathrooms, fabulous pool and gardens, and superb staff. The meals were out of this world (e.g. freshly caught prawns the size of lobsters on the bbq), the service fantastic, the children in their element with the pool, croquet, walks in the neighboring paddy fields and local villages, searching for peacocks etc. The beaches nearby are truly special, and Galle Forte itself a gem. We fell in love with Sri Lanka and will certainly be back.
