South of Nantes and East of La Rochelle, Le Thou is located just outside the town of St Hilaire Des Loges. The Market towns of Fontenay-Le-Comte and Coulonges Sur L'Autize are within easy reach. Many beautiful beaches of La Vendee and Charentes Maritime are less than an hour away, as is the charming seaside town and harbour of La Rochelle, and Island of Ile De Re. Within a five minutes drive is Xanton-Chassenon, a sandy beach with supervised bathing, waterslides and a childrens play area, picnic area, pedaloes and canoes, alongside the freshwater lake.

Puy Du Fou and Futuroscope are apx 1 hours drive. Marais Poitevin, with its Venise Vert Waterway, Mervent Forest, pretty wateride town on Coulon and Vouvant are nearby. Le Thou is new to the rental market and can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests. Open plan well equipped farmhouse style kitchen dining area.

Entrance into the hallway, with a fireplace and woodburner, with staircase to first floor. The principle living room boasts a traditional feature fireplace, Sofas, 50" TV/DVD player and DVDs. A perfect place to relax.

The rear lounge/games room has a table tennis table (indoor/outdoor) football table. Bicycles. We provide a good selection of children's toys, dolls house, books, beach Inflatables and more.

Beautiful open plan French farmhouse kitchen/ breakfast bar dining area. Range style cooker/double oven, hob, grill. American fridge freezer with water/ice, 9kg washing m/c microwave, toaster, fully equipped. D/washer. Highchair. Ipod docking station. Toys

The upstairs has one king-size and one twin room each end, to enable two families sharing a degree of privacy. The king size bedrooms each boast en-suite facilities. Large sofa bed. Cot and bedding available.
There is a main bathroom with a bath and separate shower, hand basin and toilet. 'Bedknobs' en-suite has a shower, hand basin and toilet, 'Armoire' en-suite has a bath, hand basin and toilet. All of which are fitted to the highest standard.

Pool 12ftx18ft. Covered outside kitchen and 'new' charcoal fire pit. Downstairs with flagstone floors throughout, upstairs with oak floors throughout. Heating downstairs is underfloor (winter rentals) with wood burning stoves in some downstairs rooms. No smoking, pets allowed. Large sofa bed situated downstairs.

“Beautiful Le Thou”

This is a lovely house, well restored with stone walls and oak floors. It has a big, well equipped kitchen, perfect for family gatherings and 3 great bathrooms. There is a huge enclosed garden which is ideal for children and dogs, and also a small swimming pool which we could not enjoy in October as it was too cold but must be great in the summer. We had a fantastic week with lots to do, especially mountain biking in the Mervent Forest. La Rochelle and the Marais Poitivin were both fairly near and interesting places to visit. We would definitely recommend this gite and hope to visit again before long. The owners were very friendly and always willing to help. Thank you Jerry and Karen's!

“Fantastic house, great facilities”

Le Thou is a beautiful French farmhouse with great facilities for all the family. It is set in extensive grounds which are very safe for dogs, we had 3 with us and they enjoyed it as much as we did. It is within s short drive of a small town with local shops and bakery and 20 minutes to a larger town with two supermarkets and good bars and restaurants. The house is quiet and relaxing, don't expect party central ;) would suit large families or two families with children. The hosts are very helpful and accomadating and we had good support whilst there. All in all I would recommend it for a family holiday.

What a picture postcode place. Beautiful decor and grounds. Everything had been thought of. A great base to explore or to just chill out by the pool. Going back again for sure. We went with two friends but it is perfect for families with children as there is everything to keep them amused. Pool, bouncy castle, trampoline, bikes, games & toys, table tennis (which we had great fun playing after a few bottles of the local wine) and table football. An outdoor kitchen is perfect for eating alfresco. All in all i perfect place to rent out.
