Vacation house Katarina is situated in the mountain region of Croatia, Gorski kotar region. It's a wooden house overlooking the Kupa river canyon. As the place is located only about 60 km to the sea coast, you can combine peaceful fishing vacation by the river with your sea activities. The place is suitable for people who came to Gorski kotar wishing to visit it's protected areas of nature: Risnjak National Park, a number of arranged walking paths and outing sites - Zeleni Vir & Vražji Prolaz Reserve, Lokvarka and few other caves, Kamačnik protected landscape, Golubinjak forest-park, the source of Kupa and Kupica rivers.... etc. The stay here is suitable for fishermen, bird watchers, hunters, kayakers, climbers, hikers and especially for families who want to enjoy their vacation in a calm pace, surrounded by nature, far away from traffic and stress. Within the driving distance of 1 hour you can visit National park Risnjak as well as Adriatic cost towns of Crikvenica and Opatija. The island of Krk, the biggest Croatian island is also near and accessible by car. The vicinity of Adriatic sea gives special charm for people wishing to combine fresh continental nights with mediteranean sea daily activities. Also, National park Plitvice lakes and capital of Croatia Zagreb can all be visited in one day trip.
Vacation house Katarina is a small wooden house, about 72m2, built in 2008.
The house is in the quiet, mostly abadoned old village called Doluš, surounded by forest.
The nearest larger city is Brod na Kupi in 5km. There is a restaurant, shop, bakery, post office. Delnice is nearest town, with ambulance, shops and two supermarkets, arranged ice rink, sledging and ski area and swimming pool during winter.
On the ground floor of the house there is a spacious living room with kitchen and balcony overlooking the Kupa river, only 60 meters away from the house. On the first floor there are 2 bedrooms accomodating 6 persons. Additional extendable sofa bed for two is available in the living room.
Guests are completely private in the house. The host can acess the property without prior notice only in the case of emergency. However, you're wellcome to ask for any logistic information, organisational assistance or any other kind of support during your stay. Please feel free to ask any question.
A village of Doluš has rich history, that originates from times when village was full of life. Nowadays native people have moved out to the bigger cities. In 19th century there was an attempt to make Kupa river navigable for small merchant ships -the remains of the channel are still visible. Old, partly abadoned villages in nearness are full of interesting panoramas. The old church in neighbouring Kocjani village still has its function on sundays. The nature is clean and preserved, majority of ploughlands are progressively overgrown by forest. Flora and fauna are rich and various, a number of protected species lives there. The Kupa river valley is also known by a promotional name of 'butterfly valley', becouse many butterfly species have safe habitat in it. The real fact is that not only butterflies, but wildlife in general is extraordinary well preserved in that area. So the Kupa river valley is good destination for your birdwatching of fishing holidays, wildlife photography... The enviroment of Kupa canyon supports a broad range of wildlife interests and is suitable for all people who adore nature.
Doluš is accessible by car. There is a road to the holiday house, transferring its last 1600 meters into a macadam road. The nearest bus station is in the settlement of Brod na Kupi. Nearest train station is in the city of Delnice.
