Dickenson Bay offers a wide variety of activities such as sailing, swimming, snorkeling, water skiing and boat excursions. The villa is surrounded by first-class restaurants and world-class night life. We are also a few minutes walk from tennis courts and a few minutes drive from an 18 hole championship golf course.

Very Good

“Spacious, fully equipped, relaxing, pleasantly located.”

We have stayed there twice, once in August 2010 and again November 2013, and we would not hesitate to return. We were a party of 4 adults and 3 children. The villa provided us plenty of room, it is very close to Dickinson Bay Beach and shops, however a car could be handy in order to explore the island which has fantastic beaches. Trevor ( villa manager) being a local, has plenty of good suggestions of places to go and to see, and we found him very accommodating offering to show us around. In our case Trevor, when we had a small medical emergency with our 2 year old girl, was able to arrange for a Consultant Pediatrician to see our daughter at 10.30 p.m. He really made us feel welcome and at home. Overall, our experience was twice very good, and we would recommend staying there to anyone.

We took (U.S.) spring break down in Antigua this year, our first time in the Caribbean. It was my vote, since I am an avid sailor, and Antigua is an international sailing destination (sadly spring break was the week before Antigua sailing race week!) Initially looking at the price of resorts, we quickly decided that this was not cost-effective for us, specifically because we have 3 kids. We were very pleasantly surprised that listed properties in Antigua, and through fortune found that Sunset Villa not only had fantastic reviews, but was also available. We jumped on it immediately and the waiting began... to get there (Carol was great to deal with and very helpful and informative leading up to the visit) - I should also mention that we sought out Dickenson Bay because it's one of the best family beaches. So eventually the day came to travel - standard trip with connection through Miami. Then we met Trevor: what a great gentleman! He brought us to the grocery store for supplies (food is expensive - research what you can bring down), helped us with all manner of questions and requests, was there when we needed him and stayed out of the way otherwise ;) He helped us set up a couple of day trips, and generally was our 'Man Friday' on the island - like a mega-concierge. We were there for 7 nights, and even though it's not a huge island, we still didn't see everything there was to see. Needless to say we had a great time. The villa was larger than we expected, and well equipped for a larger family than us 5. It wasn't a resort, but we didn't pay for a resort. There is a little bluff-like 5 min. walk down to the beach, and we took a (respectful) short-cut through Halcyon - our 4yr-old managed the walk just fine, but I'd say you'd have to be elderly or in a wheelchair for it to be a real issue. Since we would go to the beach for a half-day anyway it was never a problem for us. The villa had everything we needed - towels, grill, games, wifi, even a couple of beers in the fridge! A chef was also offered and I think we would do it next time. Again, we were also very pleasantly surprised with the level of information we were provided with (like what to expect at the airport) to make it a great experience from landing to departure. "Thank you!" Overall, Sunset Villa is a GREAT experience and GREAT value, and Antigua is PARADISE - just put yourself in Trevor's hands when you get there for the best time. Would not hesitate to go back to Sunset Villa and have been recommending to friends (who thought they could not afford down there, in particular) [Oh, one last tip: if you do not have a U.S. passport, try to avoid Miami on your return trip to U.S. destinations: immigration there is the worst I have ever seen and we almost missed our 2-hour layover connection.]

My friends and I spent an incredible week at Sunset Villa in March 2012. The views over Dickenson Bay are amazing and many an evening was spent sitting up on the top terrace sipping cocktails and enjoying the sunset. It was only a short walk down to the stunning beach and there were a couple of bars nearby to keep us entertained once the sun had gone down. The villa itself has plenty of space - there were 6 of us and there were enough beds and bathrooms to make sure we weren't living on top of each other. Our host Trevor could not have been more helpful. We were picked up from the airport on arrival, driven to the supermarket, supplied with our own local mobile phone to use on the island, and we were even taken out to dinner on our final night. Great location, great villa, great host, and great value! I thoroughly recommend trying it out.

“Loved My Stay at Sunset Villa”

I spent a week in Antigua at Sunset Villa in November and wished I could have stayed a week longer. I enjoyed my stay so much. I did not know what to expect when I booked my solo impromptu trip but I felt that I would get the R&R I needed. The villa was the perfect choice! It is huge for one person but I immediately made it my home away from home. My favorite room was the living room. So spacious and comfortable with all the amenities of my living room at home complete with cable TV, wireless, phone, and iPod docking entertainment choices. I spent a couple evenings lounging in this space and it was simply sublime. In the mornings I would wake up and draw the curtains back and relish the view of the ocean, the boats on the water, the palm trees and the sun streaming in. I treasure those moments. Another favorite pastime was catching the sunsets after a day at the beach. I would literally run to the top deck of the villa to bear witness to the spectacular view (it REALLY is!) of the sun setting in the sky overlooking the ocean and Sandals resort. Trevor was simply the best. The most gracious and fun host ever. He took me to get my groceries and other quick errands done after I arrived and gave me great recommendations on things to do and places to eat (I highly recommend Stingray City!). Any concerns I may have had about being alone in such a big space were dismissed after I saw how secure the property is. I felt COMPLETELY safe and secure and that was so important in my ability to relax on this trip. And boy did I relax. I slept really well every night—so much so that I fell in love with the bed in the master suite (which is a memory foam model) and now I’m getting one for my own bedroom! All in all, this was a fantastic vacation that exceeded my expectations. Antigua is quaint and has many hidden natural treasures. The beaches are just gorg and with a car you can go to a different one every day of your vacay. I will definitely return. I highly recommend staying at Sunset Villa for a relaxing, private, safe and affordable accommodation, whether for a party of 1 or 6! Natalie
