An apartment of about 200 square meters (composed by kitchen, living room, double bedroom, bedroom and 2 bathrooms for a total of 6 beds) deep in the Pollino National Park with a wonderful view over the Mercure valley.
Castelluccio Superiore is a small village where life flows slowly, where it is possible to walk through the narrow alley of the old town and along the paths that cross the Difesa Forest or that lead to the heighest tip of the village where the Church dedicated to the Madonna del Soccorso is (1110 meters above sea level).
Definitely the right place to regenerate yourself from the stress of everyday life but also an ideal starting point to visit wonderful places between the south of Basilicata and the north of Calabria, where you can taste delicacies that you can hardly forget.

Castelluccio Superiore is a place rich in history strongly linked to religious culture. For this reason, contrary to what could be expected given the size of the village, there are many religious structures as churches and chapels (link1).

Surely the summer is the most dense of events and festivals period that rediscover every year the main dishes of the culinary tradition of the country. But if you have decided to visit this little gem in the other periods of the year, don’t worry, here you find the list of the places where you can taste the dishes of the castelluccese tradition:
- La Taverna Lucana where you can find the dishes of the past, which only the grandmothers could do so well, in a simple but comfortable environment;
- Chalet Bosco Difesa characteristic immersed in the Difesa Forrest where you can find a great pizza, in addition to the traditional dishes, after a nice afternoon walk or to find a bit of refreshment in the hot summer days;
- La Rustica delle Gemelle Alagia where the shape gives way to an incredible content. A few seats but it will be like being at home.
Places in the neighborhood of Castelluccio Superiore:
- For a field trip or for a romantic walk, 35 minutes far from castelluccio north-west direction, I recommend a visit to the Sirino Lake.
- If you love sport and you want embrace the nature, you must do an experience with Lao Rafting or with River Tribe Adventure. Rafting, water trekking, mountain biking and much more at 15 minutes far from Castelluccio, south direction. Here you are already in Calabria, in the province of Cosenza.
- If your objective is total relaxation you can enjoy the Terme Lucane in Latronico about 30 minutes far from Castelluccio, north direction. Find out the health benefits of sulphurous water and mud therapy.
- If you want to visit one of the most beautiful and cleanest seas in Italy without giving up the culture, the beaches of Maratea and its majestic Christ the Redeemer together with the Basilica of San Biagio will leave you speechless. From there you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the Gulf of Policastro.
- If trekking is your passion or just to spend a nice day outdoors, a picnic on Pian di Ruggio, in the Pollino Park, is what you need. In this case, a pit stop to the Agriturismo Masseria Campolerose is a must. I'm sure you'll come out with a smile on your face!
