Description

Welcome to real Italy and No.19 Piazza San Marco, our charming home in rural Italy. We have spent five years restoring the house to its authentic beauty with exposed beams and renovated terracotta floors. At the same time we have brought the house up to modern standards of insulation and heating whilst retaining the charm of the original building. The house has been furnished tastefully and comfortably. We are often able to offer special discounts .Please contact us for details.Ther is an accoustic guitar and games such as chess, monopoly etc for your use

Further details indoors

On the second floor you will find the master bedroom and the lounge. Both have access to the balcony with wonderful views over the Marche countryside. It is a particular pleasure to sit on the balcony in the evening with a glass of local Verdichio watching the lights appear on the surrounding hilltops.

On the first floor are bedroom two and the kitchen/dining room which has direct access

Location description from owner

The Marche region

Scenery, architecture, beaches, mountains, golf , opera, art, food, wine, sunshine. Le Marche has it all in abundance, but perhaps the biggest attraction is the friendly welcome. Tourists are rare in this totally unspoilt part of Italy. The stunning scenery and the light make the region ideal for a painting holiday.

Places to visit:

The Caves di Frasassi -
Probably the most impressive and beautiful caves in Europe. A must do destination.
(15 minutes away).

Driving, walking, or cycling in the mountains -
Inland to the Appenines (15 minutes away) or to the coast and the Conero national park (30 minutes away).

Beaches -
Either Senigalia for sand, safe bathing, bars umbrellas, etc. or Porto Nova for isolated beaches surrounded by high cliffs (both 30 minutes)

Jesi -
Our beautiful local town. A medieval city with cobbled streets, ramparts, a superb 18th Century theatre and a marvellous art gallery. Visit the square where Duke Federico was born in a tent in 1186! (10 minutes)

Loreto -
The home of a majestic cathedral built around the house of Jesus transported by angels from Nazereth. Second only to Lourdes for the number of pilgrims who visit (40 minutes).

Swimming -
If you fancy a pool day visit Monte Deserto, an agriturismo run by our friends Gianfranco and Isa.
For a small fee you will be welcome to use their pool, or maybe relax in a hammock with a book, or play table tennis. They will be happy to provide refreshments and snacks or maybe you will stay on for dinner. Isa is an excellent cook. (15 minutes)

Historical towns -
Assisi, Cathedral of St Francis.
Urbino, Palace of Duke Federico II.

Golf -
There is a lovely golf course at Numana (40 minutes).

Castelbellino

Castelbellino is a village of 2000 inhabitants, each one of which will want to be your friend. It is 800 feet above sea level on a hilltop buried in the countryside, yet only a short drive from the beach, and close to many places of interest. It was the location together with the beauty of the village and the charm of the house which brought us here originally. We can almost guarantee that you will be the only foreign visitors in the village and also that you will receive a warm welcome.

The house is located right in the village square (piazza) where you will find a church, a small theatre, the town hall (commune) a small museum (by appointment only) and "Tambura Battente" an excellent ristorante run by Gino Samplese an accomplished artist who has been exhibited in Rome and in America. You will find his latest works on the walls of the restaurant.

You may be lucky enough to visit when there is an event in the square. Maybe the Mayday fair or the Christmas fair or an outdoor cinema screening or one of the many free concerts put on by the commune. There are often art displays in the museum and most weeks see at least one wedding in the little church. Couples come from miles around either to be married or just for wedding photographs as the village is famed for its beauty.

We are right in the centre of the Verdichio wine producing region and there are many wineries in the immediate area where you can buy superb wine direct from the growers. Of course they will expect you to indulge in a tasting and many are happy to give a tour of their premises. There are also lots of good restaurants close by in the surrounding towns and villages.

“Delightful and full of rustic charm”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2012

We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable lovely house. The village is quiet, other than the bell tower ! Local towns and villages are easily accessible and all of them have lots of restaurants where good food is served. We particularly enjoyed Jesi. My wife enjoyed sitting on the balcony painting and drawing the view.

“Very authentic house in historic town centre square with commanding views from rear balcony.”

Reviewed 11 Jun 2012

A well appointed three bedroom authentic house in a beautiful village in an historic area of Italy with many interesting places to visit nearby. The local people were very hospitable and the weather was warm and sunny. Our visit to the Opera in nearby Jesi was a real highlight.

“charming town, v spacious accommodation and lovelyviews from balcony”

Reviewed 6 Jun 2012

The whole family just loved this area and town - so near to special places to visit and Ancona airport. The very spacious rooms accommodated us all well, particularly the enormous family room with ensuite downstairs, making it possible for privacy at all levels. Although the road up to the town is steep and bendy it is well worth it for the views from the balcony on the rear of the house.
