Thus came the idea of renting. This house should not remain empty on days that none of their family or friends were able to visit.

They christened it “Villa Amanti” from the first few letters of their names. Amanti, which in Italian means lovers: lovers of the past, the present, of life, of joy and happiness…

And they offer it to you, for your own unforgettable moments.Whether you are a couple, a company of friends, a group, or a family with children, this is the ideal place, because the feeling you are left with after a few days in the house is that “there is plenty of room for everyone, with no overcrowding. Villa Amanti can accommodate up to 10 guests (max. 8 adults) in two bedrooms with double beds, one bedroom with two twin beds and one bedroom with two bunk beds. There are two bathrooms en suite for the bedrooms with the double beds and one shared bathroom for the bedrooms with the single beds and the bunk beds.

Moments that people have experienced in the house and have become indelibly etched on their memory could become your own memories too:Reading by the morning light on the balcony; cooking together in the kitchen; yoga on the lawn in the lower courtyard; endless conversations and Scrabble matches with good wine in front of the fireplace; dancing under the stars in the moonlight; feasts with guitars around the garden table, with the barbecue aglow and your hearts floating free. All will find their own little nook.

How can you say no:

•to a traditional house, by both sea and mountain, remote but at the same time so close to Volos, from where you can set off to the picturesque villages of Pelion and their magical beaches, to the ski center, or the nearby islands?

•to a comfortable house, where you can go with your entire company, all year round, and do nothing but chat, play, and cook with your friends?• to a charming house, for spending a romantic weekend, with endless relaxation and walks to the traditional taverns?

•to a beautiful house, for family vacations, where you can enjoy your coffee on the balcony without worrying about the children, while they play safely in the playground or have fun with the various board games that come with the house?

Location description from owner

The Magnesia Region

Pelion or Pelium is a mountain at the southeastern part of Thessaly in central Greece, forming a hook-like peninsula between the Pagasetic Gulf and the Aegean Sea.
The mountain is thickly forested, both deciduous and perennial forests, mainly of beech, oak, maple and chestnut trees, with plane tree groves surrounding places with water. Pelion is considered one of the most beautiful mountains in Greece and is a popular tourist attraction throughout the year: hiking trails and stone paths give access to springs, coves and numerous beaches, sandy or pebbly, set among lusciously green slopes. Pelion is an amply watered mountain, with an abundance of springs, gorges, streams and rivulets, with many streams routed in carved-stone artificial beds to bring the water to the villages and their thriving orchards. The higher elevations of the mountain receive enough snowfall so as to host skiing facilities that operate from Christmas to Easter.

Ano Gatzea

Ano (Upper) Gatzea is a scenic settlement of central Pelion, built at an altitude of 100m and surrounded by olive grooves. It's a charming place ideal for walks and for reaching out nearby villages.
Start your walk from the outstanding church of Euagelistrias, a three aisled basilica of 1933 with an exceptional interior. Continue your visit to the village's old railway station and walk along the rail where the famous Pelion train Moutzouris travels. On the village outskirts, you will find the three bridges from where the train passes constructed by the Italian mechanic, Evaristo De Chirico.
At only 2.5 km from the village, you will find the impressive monastery of Agia Triada (Holy Trinity), near the homonymous settlement. It is build on top of a hill full of olive trees at an altitude of 240m and with great view towards the Pagasetic Sea. It dates from 1816, belonging to the Mount Athos monastery of Megistis Lauras, and currently operates as a male monastery. The fact that the monastery is walled and has a tower on its north side makes it look like a castle, however its impressive characteristic is the big cross standing 12m tall and is clearly seen from sea level. The church inside is dedicated to Agia Triada and the monastery celebrates on Whit Monday. Within the monastery are three chapels: Agios Athanasios, Panagias (Virgin Mary) and Agion Myroforon.
Before leaving the village, visit the Olive Museum, located in a stone building near the railway station square. There you will have the chance to see various items and tools used for the collection, process and trade of olives that central Pelion is famous for.

So all the other reviewers are right this is a fantastic place to stay. My advice is, if it matches your specification then do not hesitate snap it up. The Villa is as it appears in the pictures, it is a charming old stone house set on the side of a hill with the most amazing views. What is good about it? First the welcome, despite several changes in our arrival time Amalia accommodated us and had the house in a beautiful sate for our arrival, she even did extra shopping for us in advance because the shops were closed. The house is so well stocked; from kitchen gadgets to beach and bath towels if you wanted it, it was there. No need for a rush round the shops to buy loo roll, tea or clothes pegs, they were all to hand. There were so many lovely touches like fresh herbs, books and toys for children and organic bathroom products. If you are travelling with children or by plane I would strongly advise that you check what they have as it may seriously lighten your luggage and make your life easier to find that stair gate / game of Othello / coffee maker is already there. The hosts are so good they will even get things in, we asked for hula hoops and they arrived! Everything was spotlessly cleaned and well maintained, inside and out, the lovely guest towels and sheets made everything feel touched with a little luxury. The location is great for beaches and there is taverna in a very short distance from the Villa where you can eat in the later half of every week. See the very bottom of the review for a few local tips. The house and garden is comfortable as it is set on a mountain it is not massive, yet despite that there are so many different places to stop, relax, read a book, admire the view drink coffee or beer, I don’t feel we did it justice in only 2 weeks. What is bad about the house? Well the kitchen is a little small, but was never a problem for us, Greek mountain driving in the dark was a bit scary on arrival and it is hard enough to go home from holidays, going home from here was nearly impossible. If this property is the right size and location for you - grab it before someone else does. Local tips: You can walk to the shops and 2 beaches by turning down the hill after the taverna past the goats. Hold to the path to get to the small local beach but pull off a little to the left following the red paint marks to get to the bakers and the Rivera resort and beach. The closest beach is super for swimming and has a changing cubicle and beach shower, but you would need to carry stuff down there if you want to sun bathe. Rivera is a smart beach resort where you can use the various sun beds and facilities (clean loos) as long as you buy the occasional drink. We even swam from the closest beach to Rivera for a mojito and back quite easily. If you drive to Kalo Nera then the bakery at the turn off to the town has the most amazing cakes and ice cream cake. If you are driving to beaches on the other side of Pelion and you are not used to driving in Greece PLEASE talk to Amalia about the access roads - some of the beaches are quiet and un-spoilt for a good reason. I hope that you enjoy this Villa as much as we did.

“Beautiful villa, great location, wonderful hosts”

We spent an Easter weekend at Villa Amanti with three children and three adults. Antigoni and Amalia provided us with a wonderfully warm welcome and took care of us with a great sense of hospitality throughout our stay. This will not be our last stay in Villa Amanti! The villa itself is located in a small, quiet village, with a restaurant a few meters away. It is spacious, beautifully kept and furnished with great taste, and was absolutely immaculate on arrival. Amalia even organized food stocks for our first day (a bank holiday), incl. coffee, jams, bread, milk etc.. We could not have wished for a warmer welcome. Villa Amanti has great rooms inside - our kids loved the bunk beds, toys etc., we loved the sitting area and fire place - and more than enough space outside, incl. a separate space with football area, swings etc. for the children. More than anything, though, it is a great base for exploration of wonderful Pilion, incl. the railway, the mountain villages and the many beaches. A recommendation for anyone who wants to discover this beautiful area.

Owner's reply: We would like to thank you for your kind words and for choosing Villa Amanti for your Easter holidays in Greece. We are very glad that you enjoyed your stay at our house!!! It's always our pleasure to do our best in order to meet all our guests' expectations and needs. It was a great joy meeting all of you. We'd love to see you again soon Best regards Amalia and Antigoni

We are a group of 11 people (3 families with childern). The house was far better than what we saw advertised on the Internet site. Great, quiet location with excellent view and parking space just outside the house, 10-30 mins. drive from the more touristic areas. All rooms had this personal touch that makes you feel at home. You don't need to bring anything from home because it has everything from hair dryer, washing machine to wine, homemade bread, spaghetti sauce, jam and lots of delicacies. THE BEST PART OF THE HOUSE WAS THE CHILDREN'S BEDROOM WITH THE BUNK BEDS (WHICH EASILY ACCOMMODATED 5 CHILDREN OF 7-16 yrs). THE ROOM OFFERED ENTERTAINMENT FOR ALL TASTES AND AGES : T.V, PLAYSTATION + PSP GAMES, DRAWING SETS WITH PENCILS, BOARD GAMES AND BOOKS (EVEN FOR THE GROWN-UPS),PUZZLES, DVD PLAYER.THANKS 'VILLA AMANTI' (AND OWNERS)!!

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for taking the time to write this kind review for our villa. We really appreciate it and we are very happy to know that you and your family enjoyed your Christmas vacations in Villa Amanti. Having our own children, we know very well that if parents want to relax and enjoy themselves, their children should be entertained and satisfied. That's why we try to offer this to the families who visit us. Looking forward to see you again soon Amalia & Antigoni

“THE most loveing warming and generous hostes in pilion”

It all began when we talked to amelia and antigoni by mail telling them that we are going to be with 2 kids - a baby 6 month old and a 3 years old girl. As an answer they told us they will arrange games and a pool for our older one, and a bed and a stroller for the baby. than we asked them if they know something about purchasing a local sim, so they went and bought it for us and sent it to the car rental compeny so we would have it as we arrive. It went on like this - more than amazing !!! We finally came to the house in pilion and discoverd an amazing house, with a beutiful view. It was accessorized with all the goods you could imagine. They bought us a new bed just for our baby. the house was filled with games, it had oils, vinigers, many herbs, jems, beer, wine - as if they were expecting they're best friends to come. There is also a big playgroung for the kids in the garden. When we met then in person we fell in love. An amazing, happy, loving people. They recomended us of planty of good things to do in the area and we even went for dinner and drinks together. We will go back for sure !!!!!!

“A splendid place to stay, travel and rest”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2014

This is a remarkable Villa able to host 10 persons. There are 2 double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom and 1 for children (we put 4 children there, quite comfortably). The Villa is situated up in the mountain with marvelous views to the sea. It is fully (really fully) equipped: a perfect kitchen with all amenities you can think of; a giant BBQ stand outside; a large eating table; a large and cosy living room; and even sony playstation for the kids. But above all were the hospitality and help we got (promptly and whenever needed) from the owners Antigoni and her sister Amalia. We sent them SMS and emails and they replied promptly, always trying to give us the full answers and information: its started before we got to the Villa (with ideas were to stop on the way from Athens), and continued all along our stay; Where we could find fresh fish for dinner, where we could eat out; what can we do in order to change the settings of the HD TV etc. In the Villa we found an alaborate booklet with ALL needed information on how to activate all electrical appliances in the Villa, where to go, what to see, where we can rent bikes, where we can sail - simply everything one could think of. We stayed for 5 nights. Given the location of the Villa (in the midst of Pelion, closer to the northern-west part) it was quite easy to tour Pelion on both sides - to the west and to the east. So one day we went further south than Milina, and the other day we went Tzagrada and Molypotamus beach. One day we even went to Meteora (a 160km ride each way) which was not too difficult to drive and it was fascinating. So, if you look for a place in Pelion - this is certainly one of the best. If they only had a pool - this could make it paradise... So thank you Antigoni and Amalia.

“A beautiful, comfortable home for a holiday”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2014

We rented the Villa Amanti for eleven nights for my Greek-born wife, her elderly parents, our daughter (age 26), and various members of the (Greek) family who came and went over the course of our time there. The number staying on a given night ranged from four to ten, and, it worked very well for us. First, Antigone and Amalia were magnificent. They responded to queries and any issues swiftly and conscientiously. They have provisioned the house with everything anyone could need, and added touches (homemade preserves and a bottle of tsipouro) that went the extra mile and made us feel cared for. The notebook they provide with information about the villa, the area, and Pelion was invaluable, and Amalia's recommendations for places to eat (including the beautiful taverna two doors down) were all winners. The villa is beautifully restored and updated, cozy, and very comfortable (10 adults was a bit tight, but 6-7 were fine). The view from the terrace and bedrooms is gorgeous (as the photos show). We stayed during a very warm week at the end of July, and, as the villa is on the south slope of Pelion, it got quite warm on the terrace until the sun went behind the mountain in the afternoon. But a couple of fans (provided by Amalia) kept the common areas comfortable while the air conditioning in the bedrooms made sleeping during the day and on warm nights pleasant. (The beds, incidentally, have memory foam mattresses and the linens and towels are lovely.) Ano Gatzea is only a couple of kilometers up from the shore on the south slope of Pelion, about 25 minutes from Volos. The beaches can get crowded on the weekends, but there are plenty to choose from - for swimming the little Krypsana beach at the bottom of the road quickly became a favorite - beautiful, clear water. Nearby villages - Aghios Giorghios, Milies, and further ones - if you want to explore the east side of the mountain, Tsangarada is lovely - made for great excursions. I even took a day to drive my daughter to visit the monasteries at Meteora (a 2 1/2 hour drive each way). We had a terrific stay, and we loved the Villa Amanti and its owners.

“beyond expectation”

We were very impressed with the quality of the villa and how welcoming the owners were. They had left for us so many cooking supplies and teas and detailed descriptions of everything in the area and in the villa itself. You could go there completely unprepared and get all the information you need on what there is to do in the area without even going on the internet! The outside areas were very comfortable and there was always enough space for all ten of us. The house itself is beautiful and has amazing views. Overall, it was definitely one of the best places I have stayed at would highly recommend it to anyone.

“The house vibes are so warm and cozy, you never want to leave!”

Reviewed 22 Mar 2014

Breathtaking view, beautiful rooms, the house is so cool even in the blazing heat... I couldn't wait until the evening came when I could enjoy the amazing veranda! I would definitely recommend Villa Amandi, for any age group. I went with a large group of friends and had a blast, but I can see it being perfect for families too.
