“Peaceful with beautiful views :-)” We arrived pretty late at night and were greeted at the airport by our hosts, Glynn and Julie. As we hadn't hired a car we relied upon Julie and Glynn to carry us about in their car which worked out wonderful for us.

We stayed at Vale Cegonha a couple of years ago and enjoyed it so much that we decided to go back this year.
We were driving up from Faro and heading much further into central Portugal. Vale Cegonha made a lovely stop off point on the way.
The Location: Close to the small but pretty town of Ourique with a great Pingo Duce supermarket where you can get just about everything you need in the way of provisions. From the town it's just one winding road. In May the storks were nesting on platforms all along the road, we had some great views of them. The house is set back off the road on a dirt track; it has a lovely hilltop position looking over the private land of the home.
The House: The building looks traditional, painted blue and white but is quite new. It is split into two halves with two bedrooms in each and an adjoining door if it is one big family or group staying. As we are just a couple we rented half of the house. Each half is beautifully furnished and self - contained. Even with just one half we had two generous double bedrooms one with an en-suite wet room and one with a bathroom. The decoration and fittings throughout are immaculate and tasteful and the kitchen is lovely. We took a peak inside the 'other half' and it was similarly well equipped and fitted out.
The Surroundings: Peaceful and beautiful. When we had visited before in October it had been dry and sun-baked (as is the whole area0 but in May it was a riot of wonderful wild flowers, cistus, lavender, mallows and much more. My husband photographs birds and was delighted with what he managed to 'capture' this time. As well as storks, little owls, bee eaters, hoopoe and soaring birds of prey and lots of smaller birds. There is plenty of scope for long walks, a swimming pool and a shady terrace for relaxing.
Penny and Greg, who own Vale Cegonha are friendly and helpful at every turn. We had some problems connecting our laptop to the internet and Penny went out of her way to help. A lovely 'welcome pack' awaited us when we arrived (wine, beer, butter, cheese, bread).
What a wonderful spot to unwind and a omfortable base for touring!
Many thanks! …
Casa Eva at Chada Nova - 11207/AL
Excellent Place for escapists and stationary people
We have spent great 2 weeks at Casa Nova. Although it is placed in a remote side of Algarve, its serene climate and remoteness is the greatest bonus. You feel comfortable and welcome there.
We spent first week with our teenage son and not having wi-fi was also a bonus as it made him to spend more time with us which we all enjoyed a lot.
Second week we had our friend joining us with her daughter. Both teenagers spent most of the time swimming in the pool and playing board games and cards.
We would like to recommend to have the car rented for your stay. This way you can go to the seaside or visit local towns, such as Ourique, Monschique and Milfontes with a beautiful wild beaches.
It is very likely we come back to Chada Nova and Casa Eva and its charming nooks. …
Quinta Azenha/Log Cabin
A Hidden Gem
The perfect getaway if you want to really get back to the country. We spent a peaceful, relaxed week and a half in Julie and Glynn's log cabin. Set in beautiful surroundings it was the perfect place to unwind and forget about work. Although it was an ideal setting for exam revision. Julie and Glynn are exceptional hosts.
Ps - I passed the exam this morning! …
