“May in Le Paradou” My month-long stay in the apartment in Le Paradou more than met my expectations. The apartment was ideally located, well-equipped, and the owner always available to help. Everything I needed was within walking distance (general store, bakery, butcher, hairdresser, just around the corner; bus stop less than 200m away). The area is peaceful and the local people very friendly. I walked to Les Baux several times using the loop trail and to Mausanne les alpilles a couple of times a week. The bus goes to arles in one direction and Salon in the other. From the arles train station you can go almost anywhere in France, cheaply and comfortably. There's a small open market Wednesdays in front of the mairie where you can get fresh fish and vegetables. In short, it was the perfect place for me to read, write, paint, walk, eat well, and drink good wine.

“House in La Paradou” This rental is in a small town outside of Les Baux called Paradou. Cute little town, but everything was closed the whole week we were there. The house is a perfect location to do day trips throughout the region--Arles, Avignon, Gordes, Roussillon, St. Remy, Isle Sur La Sorgue, etc. And there is another small town 5 min away called Maussane which has several restaurants. The house was very nice, clean and convenient, and Sophie was very accommodating. We had internet access and a washing machine and a full kitchen (which we did not use). There was a small patio with table where we had a picnic dinner one evening. The only negative would be that online it looked like the 2 beds in the loft would be more usable. In fact, you have to climb a ladder to get to them (not good for adults, especially if you have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night!) and the beds themselves faced the vaulted ceiling just inches away. It worked out ok for us as the main bed was a decent size (queen, I think) so my daughter and I just both slept in that bed. We sat out by the pool one afternoon but were bothered by wasps-I think they had a nest under the deck, as I saw them keep going under there.
