About Hvar Town
Hvar Town is the busiest destination in Croatia and draws in around 20,000 visitors each day. It features breath-taking 13th century walls, surrounded by cobbled pedestrian streets, exotic palm trees and fortresses.
The town also has its very own beaches and bays if you simply wish to take a stroll or relax and unwind, however Hvar Town is also known for its lively nightlife, making it popular with the younger generation.
What to Do
If you wish to go sightseeing and explore the town’s history and culture, the cathedral is well worth a visit. Damaged by a Turkish raid in 1571, it was soon rebuilt. Look inside and you'll find a range of traditional Italian paintings, one of the best being the Flagellation of Christ.
You may also wish to visit the local theatre, the very first theatre to open in Europe. For centuries, plays have been staged here, however only to very small audiences, due to the fragility of the ancient building.

Great place to stay in Hvar
The hosts went out of their way to help us, they picked us up and dropped us off at the ferry and gave us valuable info on Hvar.
The apartment itself is great, it's spacious, very clean, comfortable with air con, the kitchen is equipped, well located with a lovely beach close by, supermarket down the road and Hvar town centre a 10 minute walk away. The area is quiet in the day and night even though Hvar town itself is quite lively. There are stunning views out from the balcony down towards the coast.
Thoroughly recommend staying here. …
We stayed in Hvar for our honeymoon. It is a beautiful place, full of life but also tranquillity. We stayed at the apartments which were in a great location. Hvar town is quite busy so the apartments being a ten min walk from here were a good place as it was lovely and peaceful but not too far away. The apartments are very basic and maybe a little dated in terms of decor, but they are lovely and clean and a great base. Also our apartment had a lovely balcony overlooking the see. If you don't mind basic in terms of decor then this is definitely the place for you. The owners are lovely and always on hand to help. We did struggle to find the apartment as the directions are not great, however when we phoned to ask for help the owner came out and picked us up. All in all a lovely apartment in a very beautiful Hvar. …
Exceptional hospitality, great views, good location
Aside from the beautiful views and location, what sets Apartment Masha apart is the hospitality of the owners. Olga and Jure (and their friendly poodle, Masha!) go the extra mile in welcoming guests and clearly take their role as hosts (as opposed to landlords) very seriously. We felt very much like we were staying in their home and were, in fact, welcomed into their own apartment downstairs for drinks and guidance. They are eager for their guests to enjoy the many options that Hvar affords and will happily give advice on trips, sights, restaurants etc. Olga's kindness and helpfulness even stretched to doing 2 loads of washing (and even ironing!) for us which we greatly appreciated. Even when Hvar suffered a brief power cut one evening, Olga came to check we were ok and to bring candles.
The apartment is only a few minutes walk from the town, port, restaurants, bars and shops. There is a well-stocked Konzum 10 min away which, together with the well-equipped kitchen, makes it very feasible to self-cater when you wish to. There are a lot of stairs to the apartment from sea-level which one really feels in the intense heat of August (we hit a heatwave!) and which would've been tricky to negotiate if we'd had anything other than backpacks. However, the streets and alleyways are exquisitely picturesque and the payoff for your effort is a wonderful view over the sea and Pakleni Islands from the balcony and main room. There is constant activity in the town and port as boats come and go but a sense of quiet and peace at the apartment, slightly removed from the hubbub.
The main bedroom cum lounge is airy, bright, comfortable and air-conditioned. It opens onto a narrow balcony which easily accommodates 4 chairs and a small table along with a useful washing stand. The views, by day and night, are just lovely. The second bedroom is really small, just fitting a double bed & a bedside table with a fan. To be fair, the listing does make this clear and as long as it suits you for the 3rd/4th members of your group to hang out in the main room when not sleeping, then this is feasible. There is a large, comfortable corner sofa in the main room. Certainly if there are only 2 staying here, it is a really comfortable apartment. The kitchen has a table and chairs along with fridge/freezer, cooker and pretty much everything you need. There is ample storage space in the entrance to the bathroom. The bathroom itself is adequate (although the toilet seat kept falling off but I'm sure this will be attended to) and a strong shower. There were plenty of towels and soap and things like washing up liquid were helpfully provided. The wi-fi connection was strong.
Hvar is a bustling, beautiful place and we had a lovely time. Thank you Olga and Jure. …
Nedkat Apartments 2
Beautfiul, comfortable and welcoming
Beautiful views from the balcony of this lovely apartment. Everything you could want from an apartment and more, from the best hosts you are ever likely to encounter. Nothing is too much trouble for Katy and Ned and we felt spoilt and cared for the entire time. The use of the pool of the nearby hotel is a great advantage as I don't particularly like beaches that aren't sandy. The island is beautiful and the old town a haven for great restaurants and bars, plus all the history and lovely cobbled streets. Would recommend a Hvar holiday (but maybe not for those with mobility issues) and most definitely recommend staying at Nedkat apartments. …
