Why Split-Dalmatia County?

In Split, on Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast, dramatic mountains tumble into turquoise waters, ancient Roman monuments transform into thriving commercial districts, and locals pass the time enjoying the sandy beaches. Attractive and lively, Split is a city you won’t want to miss.

Ancient & Modern

Split has developed over centuries to become Croatia’s second largest city. Nowhere is the evolution from Roman outpost to vibrant European destination more evident than in the beautiful Diocletian’s Palace, in the heart of the city. A labyrinth of columns, archways, bars, restaurants, ancient streets and stone walls, this fascinating area is Split’s social hub.

Fun & Games

As the largest city on the Adriatic Coast, Split is an ideal mix of city and beach break. To enjoy its sandy beaches like a local, you need to try the ball game called Picigin. This popular pastime involves tumbling, splashing and running in shallow water while trying to keep a ball from falling into the sea.

Gallery Views

Natural beauty abounds in this area of the Adriatic: you just have to gaze at precipitous cliffs rising out of the bright blue sea to see what we mean. Away from the city, there are olive groves and orchards to explore, as well as vineyards producing famed local Zinfandel wines. Each and every view you take in could have been captured on canvas.

LUXURY VILLA "ANA" with POOL, SAUNA near Split
Great holidays there!

We enjoyed our stay. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The mansion was big and clear, too. … see more
Apartment "Masha"
Exceptional hospitality, great views, good location

Aside from the beautiful views and location, what sets Apartment Masha apart is the hospitality of the owners. Olga and Jure (and their friendly poodle, Masha!) go the extra mile in welcoming guests and clearly take their role as hosts (as opposed to landlords) very seriously. We felt very much like we were staying in their home and were, in fact, welcomed into their own apartment downstairs for drinks and guidance. They are eager for their guests to enjoy the many options that Hvar affords and will happily give advice on trips, sights, restaurants etc. Olga's kindness and helpfulness even stretched to doing 2 loads of washing (and even ironing!) for us which we greatly appreciated. Even when Hvar suffered a brief power cut one evening, Olga came to check we were ok and to bring candles. The apartment is only a few minutes walk from the town, port, restaurants, bars and shops. There is a well-stocked Konzum 10 min away which, together with the well-equipped kitchen, makes it very feasible to self-cater when you wish to. There are a lot of stairs to the apartment from sea-level which one really feels in the intense heat of August (we hit a heatwave!) and which would've been tricky to negotiate if we'd had anything other than backpacks. However, the streets and alleyways are exquisitely picturesque and the payoff for your effort is a wonderful view over the sea and Pakleni Islands from the balcony and main room. There is constant activity in the town and port as boats come and go but a sense of quiet and peace at the apartment, slightly removed from the hubbub. The main bedroom cum lounge is airy, bright, comfortable and air-conditioned. It opens onto a narrow balcony which easily accommodates 4 chairs and a small table along with a useful washing stand. The views, by day and night, are just lovely. The second bedroom is really small, just fitting a double bed & a bedside table with a fan. To be fair, the listing does make this clear and as long as it suits you for the 3rd/4th members of your group to hang out in the main room when not sleeping, then this is feasible. There is a large, comfortable corner sofa in the main room. Certainly if there are only 2 staying here, it is a really comfortable apartment. The kitchen has a table and chairs along with fridge/freezer, cooker and pretty much everything you need. There is ample storage space in the entrance to the bathroom. The bathroom itself is adequate (although the toilet seat kept falling off but I'm sure this will be attended to) and a strong shower. There were plenty of towels and soap and things like washing up liquid were helpfully provided. The wi-fi connection was strong. Hvar is a bustling, beautiful place and we had a lovely time. Thank you Olga and Jure. see more
Panorama Apartment With Private Pool
Lovely place!

We've just returned from a lovely holiday at Sretan's apartment! Perfect location, a short drive into Split (we hired a car) with everything we needed. Wonderful view from the balcony, and the garden and pool area are beautiful. Comfy bed, good shower. We'll be back! Thanks for having us! Christina & James see more

Villa Arancin
Brilliant holiday rental

A beautiful part of the world - and this villa is the perfect base to explore it. The house far exceeded expectations, with plenty of space, great facilities and lovely outdoor areas - including the swimming pool. Mirna and her husband were really easy to communicate with and provide loads of helpful advice in the run up to our trip, as well as really useful information on where to go on the island once we got there. I can't recommend this highly enough. We had a wonderful time and hope to go back soon! see more
Luxury apartment with terrace and parking
Superb apartment

This apartment is in first class condition. Clearly newly refurbished with top of the range fittings and appliances (Bosch, Siemens). It is light, bright, clean and well equipped with utensils, cutlery, crockery etc. Air con, TV with usual limited channels (Sky news and BBC World for English channels really), but very good and reliable wifi made up for this. It is on the second floor so a few steps to navigate to reach (past pomegranate, kiwis, limes and grapes growing in the gardens below) and does have some sloping ceilings but not too much of a problem. A small roof top terrace provides a bit of a view over Trogir, although I'm sure there are better views (and worse!). It is located the right side of the Trogir bridges to avoid the traffic queues and is about a five minute walk into the centre of Trogir. Ideal for us but the roads do mostly lack pavements. The area is a little out of the tourist centre but we quite liked that. There was space for parking one car (a little tight) and the owners live on the ground floor. They didn't really speak English but were very obliging and helpful. We were left a bottle of wine and a few cakes to welcome us in. All in all a very comfortable apartment that looks just like the photos. We would definitely use again if visiting Trogir and only about 10 mins from the airport. see more
