“A wonderful choice!” My wife and I recommend the Beachfront Condo in lovely Barbados. It has become our favourite getaway, and we look forward to returning there again and again. We loved the place so much when we saw and read about it on-line, we decided to get married right there on the beach before we'd even seen it in person - and we have no regrets! The beach is lovely, the surroundings are perfect to unwind in, and the hospitality-from-afar shown by the absentee hosts makes you feel like you really are at home. All the amenities you need to live are there, and if you pre-order, you can have the food-basics waiting for you on arrival. Gift shops, grocery stores, "Flindt's Bistro”, banks, pubs, diving facilities, wineries, and liquor stores all are just around the corner, and world-renowned restaurants, like "Tides” are a short walk away. After enjoying another sun-drenched day on the sandy beach, let the music from neighbourhood steel drum bands serenade you over dinner on your patio while you watch the beautiful sunset. Then let the waves softly wash ashore as they lull you to sleep... What else could you want?! This is heaven! Be sure to book early, as it does sell out by repeat guests (like us!) well in advance. We stayed there in 2007 and 2008 (It's not possible to list "multiple stays" on this website, unfortunately) and if work ever permitted the time off when we want to stay there, we would be back a great deal more often, I can promise you that. It really is a slice of paradise. The guest book shows tons of people who are repeat guests so we must be right about how lovely it is to stay and call it your very own home-away-from-home. Enjoy your visit!

“Slightly 'Different' view of ;Mangoes'” Firstly Big Thanks to Cath for all your help before we even left home. Mangoes is just Wonderful, and as everyone has said...Everything is spotless clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could want. There are books, games and toys for the children etc etc. The location is Great,,,through the gate across the road..The beach and pool. Turn Right...Supermarket,Bank,Shops.And of course the Lovely Lady Lucille who kept everything so clean and tidy and helped us when she could. But no one has mentioned the garden (Lovingly tended by John),the birds, the peace and quiet...Our First morning we watched the sun come up...magical,we admired the Wonderful flowers...took lots of photos. We watched all the birds, the tiny sparrows who bathed every morning in the ashtray I filled with water, and the humming birds who came in the evenings, the Gekos who came and the monkeys, who we heard but never saw. Mangoes was everything we hoped it would be which helped make our holiday a very 'Magical' time. Will we be back??? If at all possible yes!! Most definitely

“Fabulous Accommodation” Fabulous accommodation. Looks impressive from the outside but once you step indoors offers even more space to play in than you had hoped for. Three floors of grand high-ceiled rooms and stylish luxury furnishings. Outside a private pool with barbecue and kitchen area is hard to leave – but occasionally you must make the effort. The location was a revelation. Our family has visited Barbados several times before but on this holiday we finally realised Holetown is the ideal base from which to enjoy the island – and the property is across the road from its best beaches. Forget the tourist books. Mandy and Nigel thoughtfully provide a comprehensive guide on what to do that reveals what you can learn from more than three decades of eating, drinking and exploring beaches – along with lots of exciting excursions.

Holetown holidays

This beautiful resort overlooks the warm Caribbean Sea which, in turn, provides the backdrop for amazing sunsets and fantastic beach trips. The tropical temperatures, laid-back vibe and sheer friendliness of the locals is reason enough to come here on holiday. But add the rum distillery tours, and it gets even more tempting.

Get your holiday off to a great start by booking your ideal rental property on Holiday Lettings.

About Holetown, Barbados

Sitting on the west side of Barbados, Holetown was the island's first-ever settlement. It was the English who landed and originally called the area Jamestown after King James I, who was king of England in 1625. It was later renamed after the stream which runs nearby called The Hole.

Today, it's regarded as a luxury holiday idyl and is home to many five star hotels, up-market villas and gourmet restaurants. It's also the location for McGill University's Bellairs Research Institute which studies tropical marine habitats. See what you can discover during your stay here.

What to do in Holetown, Barbados

Try the Friday night Fish Fry Party at the nearby village of Oisin, where you'll find some lively Caribbean music to dance to after dining. It’s the perfect way to socialise with the locals and soak up the fun atmosphere.

Arrive in February and you should catch the Holetown Festival. The town takes on a carnival atmosphere to mark the first settlers' landing, with events such as a Floodlight Tattoo Parade and Seaside Theatre lasting throughout the week.

Go out to sea on a guided tour in one of the many glass bottom boats. You'll be able to swim or snorkel with turtles and colourful fish all afternoon, then afterward enjoy a rum punch or two when you've returned to the boat.

Go to Folkestone Beach where you can sunbathe, swim and enjoy a beer from the cold shack conveniently located there. Everyone loves a day relaxing on a beautiful beach as part of the perfect Barbados holiday.

Provided you're not of a vegetarian persuasion, pop on over to Roti Den and try the goat curry if you've never had it before. It's delicious and a local delicacy.

Top travel tips for Holetown, Barbados

Enjoy driving around the island in a hire car, but don't bother consulting any maps. They're not particularly accurate and few villages have name signs anyway. It’s more a case of exploring and seeing where you end up.

You can also get around the island on one of the small yellow buses. This is incredibly cheap—at just approximately $1 for a round trip—and a great way to meet the locals and hear laidback reggae music.

It’s worth knowing that the sea on the east has extremely strong undercurrents and is considered too dangerous to swim in. If you like a swim in the sea, stick to the waves on the west coast.

A beautiful resort with friendly, welcoming people, the Caribbean Sea and beaches to die for, Holetown really does take some beating as a holiday destination. Barbados as a whole is a fascinating island with plenty of documented history and all locations within easy driving or bussing distance of Holetown.

Hillside Villa at Limegrove, St James
Great location and perfect living space

We have just returned from a fantastic week in Barbados and were so lucky to stay in this great home. And it did feel like a home not a house rental. We were three couples and there was plenty of space for us all, We did a lucky dip for the rooms but no-one was disappointed, all the bedrooms are comfortable and all have their own ensuite bathroom. It is very well equipped and we did not want for anything. The location is perfect, so close to the local beach or a quick walk to the main road and access to the Reggae bus which runs up and down the coast or taxi's. We definitely did not feel the need for a car. You are in a great position for fancy restaurants or the more reasonable local style beach bars. Nigel & Mandy leave fabulous tips about the island and are extremely knowledgeable about places to visit and how best to make your stay a memorable one. I can not recommend highly enough this property or this area and hope to return again one day. Thank you.see more

Amazing place

We are 3 couples who have just returned home from a 2 weeks stay at Cherry house it was amazing. The villa is spotless, spacious, well equipped and set in a beautiful garden with a lovely poolside in a great location, hummingbirds visiting us daily. I have stayed it this area numerous of times, and love the area. This was my 1st visit to Cherry House and it did not disappoint, it’s the nicest home I’ve stayed in a credit to Micheal & family, I will definitely be visiting again soon . If you get chance book it you will not be disappointed. Stunningsee more

Ixora 3

This was our first visit to Barbados and I don’t think it will be our last. We enjoyed our stay at Ixora and Holetown. We had some great meals at Zaccios and Tides restaurants and enjoyed sundowners at Surfside. We would also like to thank Joan and Mark for their help and advice while staying at the Ixora apartments.see more

Beautiful villa in a quiet location.

The villa itself was everything we needed for the 6 of us. Very roomy, lovely pool which felt like it was heated after the sun was on it all day, very spacious rooms, en suite with large walk in wardrobes and air conditioned. A gardener and pool cleaner visited regularly and were lovely (the gardener even gave me and my sister-in-law a lift one day as he recognised us down the road). The people of Barbados are so friendly and welcoming where ever you go. Bernadette was our house keeper who came a couple of times a week to clean etc. Such a lovely woman, helpful and friendly. The location is ideal for being close enough to amenities AND being away from it all. The only noise at night was the tree frogs! With a slow walk to the local beach it took us about 10 minutes. The beach is small and secluded but has a 'hut' that serves drinks and basic food, a souvenir shop, cafe/bar and public toilets. There are a few reefs to snorkel around and there is a life guard on duty too. It was our favourite place to go for a relaxing day. We used the local buses almost every day as they are cheap, convenient and great fun. The Reggae busses are the best with music playing and brightly painted interiors. And again the drivers and conductors were extremely helpful and friendly. We used them to take us into Bridgetown, Speitstown and St Lawrence Gap. Taxis are readily available too but get them to give you a price before you get in as the charges vary considerably. I liked dealing with the villa owner, Sharon, directly as it made it easier and quicker to deal with the whole booking. Overall a very relaxed holiday at a wonderful location and I would recommend it to families or a group of friends.see more
