We the family of eleven had a lovely holiday in villa Rosa and found Monty and his wife very good with the lovely pool and the cleanliness of the Villa. Corfu is a lovely island and this villa was fine with the beach close by. …
A beautiful, well-furnished and equipped house
Casa Ariti is outstanding value. Most rooms are exceptionally roomy and airy and are beautifully furnished. The first floor balcony is huge, with chairs and a vast wooden table in the shade. The spacious kitchen had every piece of equipment we needed, with plenty of crockery and cutlery. There is no traffic noise and the views of treed hills are idyllic.
We chose the villa because of these attributes and the fact that it does not have a pool. We had a two-year-old grandson with us and did not want to risk him drowning.
Having extolled some of Ariti's many virtues there are a few points which should be made.
The map is not accurate. The villa is at the end of a no-through road in the south-west corner of the displayed map. I estimate it is a walk of nearly a kilometre to the nearest part of the beach
Sea glimpses rather than sea views.
The single bedroom on the ground floor is small and does not have airconditioning. But one of the first-floor bedrooms is huge and has a single bed as well as a double. There was plenty of space to use the mattress from the downstairs bedroom to provide a fourth bed in this room so two small boys slept with their parents. Both double bedrooms on this level are air-conditioned.
We slept in the bedroom on the second floor under the exposed wooden roof beams. Temperatures while we were in Dassia ranged from an overnight 24 to a high of 40. The air-conditioner is at the far end of the open plan area and we used a pedestal fan to help blow the cold air to the bedroom.
While the two main bathrooms are beautifully tiled and are spacious, the shower on the second floor is tiny and enclosed in a corner by a curtain.
I was told about a fortnight before we were due to arrive that the owner would only accept cash in hand for the entire rental fee on arrival. This was a shock, especially when I was told that no address could be given for the villa and that I would have to hand over the cash to a man who would guide me to the villa after meeting me outside a hotel in the main street . In fact, there were no problems and our arrival went very smoothly.
The northern end of the beach is far superior to the stretch of beach closest to the villa. There are huge eucalyptus trees providing shade, the water is clearer and cleaner, there is a sandy bottom once you're in the water (apart from the extreme north where the bottom is covered in large stones) and the Mouratoros Cafe will supply a sun bed for every three euros spent there.
Overall verdict: the family loved it. …
St Nicholas House & Aprt. Family Friendly Villa With Private Pool Close To Sea.
A fantastic vacation
The house is at the periphery of Dassia, a 15 Minutes drive along the main road north of Corfu town. It is located in a quiet quarter, surrounded by other villas. The house is very spacious and well furnished. It's not like a typical holiday apartment. You feel at home instantly. Thus the house is so big that even bigger groups can stay there and everyone will find his own cozy place. The house got cleaned by a (British) cleaner, twice a week. She did an excellent job. Everything was really clean.
The owner Dinos was a great landlord. He took care of the house and its surroundings with love and an eye for details. This also includes the pool, which was always in perfect condition. Dinos was a wonderful help for excursion ideas or any other question we had. I once had a flat tire after I arrived by ferry and he promptly organized the repair for my car.
Our stay in Corfu was early in the year (April) but the weather was already wonderful and the pool/sea adequately warm for swimming.
We had a wonderful time in a great house. We still talk about this fantastic vacation, weeks later and we still appreciate Dino’s warm welcome. We met only for a short time but it felt like being family. …
