“Seriously lovely place” Despite less than perfect weather, our stay at The Old Grainstore was great. The accommodation is ideal for a couple, quirkily kitted out, and with a very comfortable, enormous bed! The setting is absolutely beautiful, and Brian and Gill are the perfect hosts, both welcoming and hospitable. The barbecue in the courtyard has converted us both to the convenience of gas - but we also used the charcoal barbecue on the island, which has more evening sunshine. We found some wonderful walks and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the gardens. Our dog, Morse, who was kindly allowed to stay at the apartment, had a whale of a time, swimming in the river and becoming an expert on sniffing out deer, which we saw every day in the woods and fields. The immediate area is very quiet - possibly too quiet for some - but Chauvigny is walkable, has plenty of bars and a nice atmosphere. We enjoyed an incredibly relaxing holiday, which was just what we needed - if the sun had shone just a bit more, it would have been absolutely perfect!
