From the owner

Green Room Villa is the first vacation rental in the beautiful surfing village of Teahupoo. The three-bedroom two-bathroom house is ideally located a three-minute walk from the shore break and a one-minute walk to a crystal clear river pool. The Teahupoo reef break is just a paddle away.

The House

The artistic, octagonal-shaped wooden house is 1,520 square feet including a massive deck so you can practically live outdoors; the center is open to the sky and a mangosteen tree grows out of the middle. From almost anywhere in the house you'll have views of the mountains, and at night, the moon.

All the main rooms have teak floors while the bathrooms and kitchen are tiled. The custom made windows and kitchen cabinetry are made from hardwoods and the house is furnished with Bali style teak furniture. The home is designed to catch tropical breezes so it's often noticeable cooler than outside even without air-conditioning.

Over 18 types of fruit grow in the 3/4 acre garden including the usual suspects like mango, papaya, pineapple, passion fruit, banana and lime but also rare species to Polynesia such as giant South American pink pomelos, cinnamon and cocoa.

Location

The quiet Teahupoo community is unique in Tahiti both for its laid back surfing atmosphere and for its uncommonly welcoming and traditional Polynesian ambiance.

Beaches & Snorkelling

Teahupoo Point is about a seven-minute walk from Green Room Villa. This is the village's best beach - it's black sand and quite protected. There are picnic benches and fresh water showers here and it's usually a very mellow local scene.

From this beach you can swim through a hole in the protective reef across the channel (if the current isn't too strong - look out for boats) to coral gardens than run out along the pass towards the wave. This is some of the best snorkelling on Tahiti (resident sea turtles!) but it's best for confident swimmers. More low key snorkelling can be found between Teahupoo Point and the shore break at the end of the road as well as off the beach beyond Teahupoo Point.

Surfing

The reef break at Teahupoo has become one of the most famous waves in the world due to its power and beauty. It's not always as huge as you see it in the magazines but surfing here is for experienced surfers only. The beach break at the river mouth (a few minutes walk from Green Room Villa) is better for beginners and kids.

Surfers can be in the Teahupoo lineup in less than a half an hour by a jog to the point and a quick paddle out.

The beach break is on a black sand beach and when school is out there are usually a bunch of local kids playing and boogie boarding in the waves. When school is in session the beach is usually empty.

Hiking

From the doorstep of Green Room Villa there are several hiking and walking options. The trail that leads from the bridge past the road's end into the Fenua Aihere ("bush country") begins through a village of seaside houses. Here you'll find several beach areas good for swimming and snorkelling. If you want to keep going, this path leads all the way around the island and it takes about two days to complete.

Other hikes include the steep uphill climb to the pyramid-shaped mountain just across the river from the villa. From here there are fantastic views over the village and the surf.

Walking upriver is another adventurous hike, best on a dry day. After about two hours you come to a huge valley full of waterfalls. Or you can stay closer to home where river swimming holes are just a few minutes-walk away.

Why can't I call Josh (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I pay the balance of my holiday?

You can pay the remaining balance of your holiday at any point. Simply go to Manage my holiday booking and click Pay now.

How can I retract my booking request?

You’ll need to contact Josh (the owner) to do this. Send them a message in Manage your holiday booking or through the contact form on this page.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Josh (the owner) a message.

If Josh (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
