The Brittany / Cotes-D'Armor region

Brittany is a land of wide open spaces, quiet roads, beautiful countryside, shady woodlands, fertile river valleys, high moorlands and deep gorges, ancient market towns and attractive villages, wild headlands mixed with pure sandy beaches, attractive inlets and fascinating fishing villages and above all, a relaxed approach to life. The architecture, the land and the people are all different from the rest of France. It is a land which has stood the test of time and offers a wonderful variety to everykind of visitor!
The Trevenec area
Central Brittany is the land which tourism forgot. Big blue open skies illuminating the wonderful patchwork of green fields, glorious deciduous woodlands, rolling hills and stunning coastlines and beaches. In the field opposite our holiday cottage at Trévenec the Charolais cattle graze peacefully in their pastures, whilst a little up the farm-track the maize waves gently in the breeze awaiting the harvest.
Yet within easy reach are Roman aqueducts, Napoleonic canals, the long distance cycle track where the railway once ran, markets in local towns on every day of the week, chateaux, museums, theme parks, famous towns like Concarneau, Quimper, Morlaix, Lannion, Perros-Guirec, Dinan and everywhere places to walk, cycle, or just to relax.Traffic remains unbelievably light, - on some journeys we pass only one vehicle a mile and the English carpet fitter tells us about a friend who brings his Jag over from England every so often just for the pleasure of driving on empty roads. There are quiet moorlands like Dartmoor, the ruins of ancient abbeys, menhirs and tumuli strewn across the landscape, old chateaux, wonderful churches with parochial enclosures and everywhere clear-running streams and lakes with little beaches for hot summer days. And just 35 minutes away are some of the finest beaches in Brittany near the delightful port of Locquirec. Créperies, seafood restaurants and local produce abound to delight every taste.

“A lovely cottage, - a real home from home, with everything you need. It was really peaceful and we had a lovely holiday. Our favourite places to visit were Quimper and Concarneau, with its walled city near the harbour), Morlaix, Huelgoat (with the lake and enjoyable walk by the boulders. We also enjoyed the beach at Locquirec. We found the cottage was very central to everywhere we wanted to go.
