The Burgundy region
The village is situated in the Yonne department, 2 hours drive from Paris, in a region rich in history and cultural events. The exceptional historical and religious heritage includes the neighbouring medieval village Noyers-sur-Serein, one the 100 'most beautiful villages of France'; two Renaissance castles, Ancy-le-Franc and Tanlay, Chablis, famous for its white wine, as well as Vézelay world renowned for its Romanesque basilica, and the Cistercian Abbey of Fontenay, both on the UNESCO world heritage list. Burgundy has been a wine- growing region since Roman times and the village is located in-between several famous wine districts; Chablis, 18 kilometers north, where the white wine made from Chardonnay grapes is produced, and the Côte d'Or, some 40 kilometers south, where Burgundy's most famous and most expensive wines originate.

Surrounded by fields, hills and valleys, the village is separated by a river originating in the Morvan Mountains. Two bicycles are available to explore the surrounding countryside. Other activities include horseback riding, boating on the Canal de Bourgogne, canoe on the Armançon river and golf at the Tanlay 9-hole golf course in the park of the eponymous castle.
