A beautiful barn conversion with heated swimming pool nestled in it's own 10 acres of Dordogne countryside. Set within beautiful French countryside this 1 bedroom gite with shared pool contains all the character features to be expected. This includes original oak beams fireplace, wood floors, but also contains all modern appliances such as free Wi Fi, for those that like to keep in touch with the world. With many outdoor activities on your doorstep such as kayaking, cycling, swimming and walking there is plenty to do for all the family. With tracks and paths leading straight from the property it is a perfect place to come for keen cyclists and walkers. We also provide bike for our guests free of charge. There are many local markets in the area, the main one being Riberac of which is the largest in the Perigourd. Here you can taste the delights of the local food and wine and enjoy a coffee in the many French cafe's as you while away the day. Or you can relax by the pool surrounded by fields of sun flowers while enjoying a locally sourced wine. All pool furniture is provided for the comfort of all our guests. There are also local leisure beaches, rivers and golf courses all within 10-30min drive. The local village of Grand Brassac is only 2.5km away where you will find a small shop and bar. We also provide bicyles for all members of the family if you are not able to bring your own. The English owners live on site with their 3 horses and 2 dogs and are there to help with any questions you may have and to help you have the best possible holiday. The Aquitaine/Dordogne region
This part of the Dordogne is one of the most beautiful parts of France with rolling hills, fields of sunflowers, woodland, rivers and wonderful, pretty villages to stroll around. The climate has short winters and long hot summers .
Nestled in a slightly elevated position with far reaching views over the countryside, the village of Grand Brassac boasts a church & traditional tabac which offers freshly baked bread and a small choice of produce and also you can enjoy a glass of wine after your shopping. The local village of Montagrier has a lovey restaurant with a vine covered terrace and Lisle also having a wonderful restaurant with river side dining. The nearby vibrant market town of Riberac hosts a weekly market, the biggest in the region and is very popular as it supplies many local produce from many food stalls, to wine, gifts, furniture, clothing & much more. You can soak up the atmosphere while tasting local produce and chatting to the French locals. There are many events through out the summer, including music festival and local village fetes.
Tocane St Apre
There are many activities to enjoy in the area from kayaking ( there are many places to hire Kayaks ) to fishing in the local river to walking and cycling the tracks that lead straight from the property. We provide bikes for our guests free of charge so you can discover this beautiful area by bike, or maybe just pop to the local shop for your daily bread. There is a local leisure beach just 10 min away in Lisle but also a very large leisure lake at La Jemaye (25 mins drive) this is set in a natural habitat within woodlands. In the summer life guards are on duty and there are specially supervised swimming areas. other facilities include, picnic benches, pedalos and cafes.
There is also a small adventure park 30 min drive where you can also learn Archery. There are many beautiful towns within a 2 hour drive such as the famous coastal resort of La Rochelle, Sarlat and Bordeaux. Not forgetting our more local historical Bergerac 1 hour drive away.
