The Pays de la Loire region
The Sille lake and its man-made beach (swimming, nautical activities) is very close, so is the beautiful site of "Les Alpes Mancelles" (rock-climbing, canoeing, and St Céneri-le-Gerei,one of the most beautiful villages in France).Bagnoles de l'Orne (spa) is only an hour from us, so is Le Mans and its world-famous 24-hour race. But even closer, you'll enjoy the superb new museum in the Chateau of Mayenne, the Gallo-Roman ruins of Jublains, the medieval town of Ste Suzanne or the caves in Saulges (and their prehistoric treasures).
But do not forget our walking paths (specially maintained by volunteers, we are proud of them!) or all the farm markets…

"A fanstastic week in a delightful cottage looked after by wondeful hosts"
We really enjoyed our week at Gite du Moulin, we used as a base for a couple of long day trips (to Mont-Saint Michell and then to Chateau de Villandry and Chateau de Chenonceau) and also to explore the surrounding districts (Saint Ceneri le Gerei, Les Jardins de la Mansoniere, Le Mans Old Town, Le Mans Motor Museum, Sainte-Suzanne, Laval etc). Sylvaine and Robert (I affectionately labelled him the 'mad' professor, he is generating electricity using the techo bits of a Toyota Prius from the stream which runs under their house) are warm and friendly hosts that did everything possible to make us welcome and ensure we enjoyed our stay. The cottage is a old barn which has been restored with a great attention to detail, and is both inviting and comfortable. The only complaint, although the lounge looks fantastic, its not that comfortable to sit on. So thanks Sylvaine and Robert for a wonderful week.
Thank you Kevin! Aussies do explore the surroundings and are not afraid of kilometers! You certainly filled your week to the brim!
