Further details outdoors: Residenz Zwieselstein’ is 3km to the South of Sölden in the heart of the Ötztal Alps, 1.5 miles from the lifts and less than 200m away from the ski bus stop to Sölden and Obergurgl. With its small chapel dating back to 1747 the village is characteristically Tirolean, dominated by 600 mountain peaks of which 174 are over 3,000 m. The village and the valley offer a unique combination of stunning natural landscapes, warm hospitality and authentic tradition.
Zwieselstein is positioned between two world class ski regions, the International World Cup resort of Sölden (1.377 m) and the traditional mountain resort of Obergurgl (2,000 m).
The smaller resort of Vent, home to Tirol’s highest mountain, the Wildspitze (3,768m) is situated a short drive to the west. Snow is guaranteed from October to May due to the high altitude (3,250 m) and 2 glacier ski areas, Rettenbach and Tiefenbach.
Sölden is certainly one of the top 5 international ski resorts in Austria. The town itself stretches for more than 2km along the valley floor with traditional Tyrolean-style buildings situated on both sides of the river and along the main road. It is a vibrant resort with a great atmosphere. With more runs than Chamonix and Kitzbühel, Sölden has a lot to offer. The annual opening World Cup Ski race is hosted on the Rettenbach glacier every October.
There are countless restaurants, bars and shops along the main street and a sports centre with indoor adventure pool, public sauna, indoor tennis courts and bowling. The après-ski is world-renowned with numerous pubs and clubs offering live music and DJs.
SÖLDEN SKI RESORT FACTS • Alpine Ski World Cup venue. • 150 km of slopes with a lift capacity of 68,000 per hour guarantee no queuing. • Austria's only ski area with 3 mountains higher than 3,000 m. • 62 km red, 51 km blue, 27 km black, 6 km ski routes. • 23 mountain huts and restaurants. • 12,8 km ski run from the Rettenbach Glacier to the village with a vertical drop of 1,877m is Tirol’s longest.

Both Glaciers are connected with 10 state-of-the-art ski lifts with an average capacity of 20,000 people per hour. Sölden is the only winter sports resort worldwide that runs an International Test Centre with all of the most important manufacturers based here.
Sölden – Pitztal valleys: Plans to connect the two valleys of Ötztal and Pitztal via the Rettenbach Glacier are advanced and should be completed within the next 2 years, creating the largest summer/autumn skiing area in Europe.

Guestbook for Apt.7 Residenz Zwieselstein
We have just come back from this apartment. The village is lovely and to have the choice of skiing in Solden or Obergurgl was great. The apartment was beautifully furnished and after skiing, to sit on the balcony with a beer and look over the village was a great bonus. We will be back! (Tom H.)
We LOVED the place! The location was perfect for mt biking to Solden and then hiking around the area. The apartment itself was the best we have stayed in throughout all the years we have travelled to Solden and Obergurgl. Overall, great place and location. Thank you for allowing us to stay (J. & A. July 2009)
