The pool is really cool. Fully lit at night underwater lights - I haven't seen one as good - mosaic tiled, infinity edge, all edges have been rounded no sharp edges, kids area 3 mtr/10foot circle 0.6 / 2ft deep, pool area 1 mtr 3ft3 for small kids to 2 mtrs adults jump in. Area fully lit at night total length 50 foot x 20 foot. Kids should always be supervised in pools, if in doubt arm bands on all the time.
4 acres of 200 year old olive trees, fruit trees seasonal, fig, cherry, plum, apple, lemon, line, almonds, capers, you are free to pick what you want - prickle pear cactus has to be handled very carefully, we also have a small vineyard. Different trees come in and out of season at different times.
Why we chose a home in this location (Year purchased: 2005)
We ended up here by luck, chance, destiny, fate!! We love the area because it is private, quiet, peaceful, safe, tranquil, and the neighbours are good. Our restoration is unique. There is easy access to all the hustle and bustle of the local towns and the best beaches in Italy. Food and wine and the local restaurants, the markets... it's deep down 'Real Italy'. Statistics for Puglia show 350,000 foreign visitors last year, 1,650,000 Italian visitors.
Unique benefits of the property
You will stay in an remarkable restored traditional 200 yr old Trulli villa, with exceptional work from local stone masons, but with all the mod cons delicately included, this type of building is unique in the world to this area (cost us a small fortune)!! On booking we will send you details of all we have discovered in the area to see do and eat !!
House swap considered - of similar high 5 star standard.
The Puglia region
The best beaches in Italy, fantastic coastline of different beaches, caves, grottos etc etc with good serviced facilities in the summer, parking, sun loungers, restaurants, toilets etc etc. water at the beach is normally very warm. We haven't tried going skiing in the winter yet but think it's about 2 hours away.
San Michele Salentino
Restaurants, shops, beaches all nearby. Locally there is a 4 star hotel with restaurant 4 minute drive away. Manageress family owns a famous restaurant and the mother and daughter will come and cook local in-season fare in the house for you!
Golf Course in Brindisi - 40 minutes
Restaurant - 30 minutes walk (opening times may vary according to season)
San Michelle Salentino (small town) - 2km
Ceglie Messapica (bakery, supermarkets, Michelin* restaurants) - 5km
Ostuni (bakery, supermarkets, restaurants) - 12km
Cisternino - 20km
Beaches – 20km.

"Beautiful property, fantastic pool and very helpful caretaker"
We had a wonderful time here. It was extremely hard to find any villa in Puglia which would open their pool in April for our hardy British kids, but Richard (owner) agreed immediately. It was worth it- the kids used it every day, even managing without wetsuits by the end of the week. The property has been beautifully refurbished and unlike a lot of trulli that we saw online has a large kitchen with a big gas hob- great for families. The caretaker, Zohar, was wonderful- nothing was too much trouble including introducing us to her favourite Italian pastry shop which made a cake for our son's 4th birthday. The area is great- beaches about 20 mins drive and deserted, restaurants and supermarket 10 mins. The kids are still asking when we are going back...

"Wonderful Holiday with all the trimmings"
Trulli Carla is a large, spacious and nicely furnished historical house, set in olive groves in Southern Italy. It was ideal for our family with two large double and twin bedrooms with private bath, plus a smaller room en-suite for Grannie. The children loved sleeping in the "alcove" and playing in the pool all day. The grounds are spacious with lots of trees and land around to provide endless adventure for the kids.
We loved the local towns including Ostuni, Ceglie Messapica, Cisternino, Oria and Lecce. We took a day trip to Matera which was amazing plus a day out at Alberobello. There is lots to see and do here, including the Zoo Safari which provided the usual holiday seaside resort roller coasters, albeit on a small scale.
Puglia is a lovely region, unspoilt and still very cheap. We were amazed by the quality of the restaurants and the food is amazing. The best pizze is in Ceglie at Montovicolo and La Locanda, which also has a huge menu and is open every day except Monday. We never paid more than about €5 each! Beware the anti pasti menus, as they serve enough food to feed a small army and we seldom managed to get to the main course!
We would recommend Trulli Carla for any family looking for a peaceful gentle holiday in a lovely, well equipped, comfortable house. The trulli are extremely cute and the children have not stopped talking about their fantastic holiday.
