Gite | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
Welcome to our lovingly restored holiday cottages. At the end of a quiet lane, nestled on the side of a valley, there is no traffic, no noise and no distractions. Despite these tranquil surroundings, we are still close to all the main site seeing attractions at Sarlat, Les Eyzies, Perigueux, Beynac and Domme. Originally barns, both properties have been recently renovated and are well equipped to provide you with everything you will need for your stay. Newly decorated and furnished, they have a bright and light feel, while still retaining some of the original oak beams and woodwork. But in all honesty, the views are what make this property really special. Sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine on a summers evening, watching the spectacular sunsets over the valley and the chateau, will give you holiday memories to take away and cherish forever.

One of two delightful cottages, sleeps 2, would suit a couple or a family with a young child. Situated on the side of the valley, the views from the terrace overlooking the valley and the chateau are truly beautiful.
The property includes one large double bedroom, with an American king size bed, TV with UK satellite. A fully equipped open plan kitchen and dining area. Both the living area and the bedroom open out onto a terrace overlooking the valley, where you can sit and enjoy alfresco dining. Originally a barn, the cottage has been recently renovated. Newly decorated and furnished, the cottage is fresh and bright, while still retaining some of its rustic charm with original oak beams and woodwork.
Ideally situated, the cottage is close to all the main site seeing attractions at Sarlat, Les Eyzies, Perigueux, Beynac and Domme but its peaceful location also offers the perfect ‘get away from it' all holiday.
The Aquitaine/Dordogne region
Known as the land of 1000 castles. The Dordogne in the South West of France is steeped in history with stunning scenery literally around every corner. The area has something for everyone, with caves and grottoes dating back to the prehistoric times, stunning chateaux and gardens as well as vineyards that produce some of the finest wine in the world
Rouffignac St Cernin
In the heart of the Perigord Noir in the Dordogne, the property is a ten minute stroll from the village. There you will find two excellent bakeries offering fantastic fresh breads and mouthwatering pastries. There is also a bank, a newsagents selling British papers, a pharmacy, a post office and three bar/restaurants, where you can sit outside, enjoying a coffee or a beer and watch the world go by. Market day is Sunday, selling free range duck and organic vegetables and locally produced cheeses and wines. In the surrounding area you will find a huge variety of things to see and do. You can visit one of the many caves, the most famous being Lascaux, or take a canoe or boat trip on the Dordogne or Vezere rivers and experience some really breathtaking scenery. For wine lovers, take a trip to one of the local vinyards and enjoy an afternoon of wine tasting. Experience one of the many great local restaurants and sample some of the world’s best food. Or just take a walk enjoy the beautiful views and stunning scenery.

"Our Holiday in The Barn"
Cosy little Cottage. Downfall was the very small Shower! Lacking towel rails.in the kitchen and Bathroom, Pot luck with the WiFi. Could have done with a small coffee table, when sitting on the sofa ha… More
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay. For other guests looking to book with us it might be useful to know the car park is 5 meters by 15 meters, this is to park 2 cars. Wifi in the cottage is available, but due to the thickness of the stone walls, there are hotspots, some places have better signals than others but it is always available. The bathroom is compact but with 2 sets of shelves and 4 hooks for towels on the back of the door, we feel we have made the space functional and adequate for 2 people. Thank you for pointing out the need for tea towel hooks in the kitchen, we will ensure they are fitted as soon as possible.
Customer feedback is vital to us, to ensure we continue to run a successful business, so again thank you for sharing your thoughts. Kindest Regards Karen and Steve

"Perfect for our requirements!"
We can only echo the sentiments expressed by previous reviewers of this property.
We have been holidaying in France for a number of years, but this was the first time that we have needed to visit out of season.
The accommodation was exactly what we needed. Clean, warm, comfortable and practical. The owners were helpful and friendly, and we could have asked for no more.
Probably the best testimonial we can write is that a month after this stay, we needed to return to finish off a few things, and we had no hesitation in contacting the Karen and Steve and booking up again!
As expected, the second stay was every bit as satisfactory as the first.

"Perfect holiday heaven"
Great location in lush green countryside, and 10-15min stroll to a small village with 4 restaurants/bars, 2 boulangeries, 1 excellent boucherie/traiteur and a great Carrefour for everything else. The cottage itself is an ok-sized living/dining/kitchen area + shower/loo, but has everything you need for holiday catering. The bedroom is enormous, with an equally giant and very comfortable bed. You step straight out from the living area onto a pebbled terrace with dining equipment, bbq and sun loungers. The loungers are heaven to flop on after a day canoeing, walking, river/lake swimming or plain old over-eating! For cloudy days, it's an easy drive to major prehistoric sites in the Vezere valley like Lascaux, also geological caves, chateaux, medieval towns. It's ridiculous how much there is to do here, and equally, how much the peace and quiet is so conducive to doing absolutely nothing. If you're a foodie, you'll be like a kid-in-sweet-shop, what with the local nut wines, foie gras, truffles, duck, cheese and wine etc. Steve is a good person to talk food with, and very generous with his eggs! We are already missing it all, especially Scooby, who is the best (if greediest) host anyone could wish for.

"a really wonderful place"
We had a great recreation time at Les Pachauds, for relaxing this place is perfectly calm! Thanks a lot for the nice hints like Layotte restaurant where we had a marvellous evening with an excellent dinner. We felt like home at the nice gite and its wonderful place outside.
