"A little bit of heaven"

"Perfect for our requirements!"

We can only echo the sentiments expressed by previous reviewers of this property.
We have been holidaying in France for a number of years, but this was the first time that we have needed to visit out of season.
The accommodation was exactly what we needed. Clean, warm, comfortable and practical. The owners were helpful and friendly, and we could have asked for no more.
Probably the best testimonial we can write is that a month after this stay, we needed to return to finish off a few things, and we had no hesitation in contacting the Karen and Steve and booking up again!
As expected, the second stay was every bit as satisfactory as the first.

"Perfect holiday heaven"

Great location in lush green countryside, and 10-15min stroll to a small village with 4 restaurants/bars, 2 boulangeries, 1 excellent boucherie/traiteur and a great Carrefour for everything else. The cottage itself is an ok-sized living/dining/kitchen area + shower/loo, but has everything you need for holiday catering. The bedroom is enormous, with an equally giant and very comfortable bed. You step straight out from the living area onto a pebbled terrace with dining equipment, bbq and sun loungers. The loungers are heaven to flop on after a day canoeing, walking, river/lake swimming or plain old over-eating! For cloudy days, it's an easy drive to major prehistoric sites in the Vezere valley like Lascaux, also geological caves, chateaux, medieval towns. It's ridiculous how much there is to do here, and equally, how much the peace and quiet is so conducive to doing absolutely nothing. If you're a foodie, you'll be like a kid-in-sweet-shop, what with the local nut wines, foie gras, truffles, duck, cheese and wine etc. Steve is a good person to talk food with, and very generous with his eggs! We are already missing it all, especially Scooby, who is the best (if greediest) host anyone could wish for.

"a really wonderful place"

We had a great recreation time at Les Pachauds, for relaxing this place is perfectly calm! Thanks a lot for the nice hints like Layotte restaurant where we had a marvellous evening with an excellent dinner. We felt like home at the nice gite and its wonderful place outside.

"A little slice of heaven in the Dordogne......."

We have thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks stay at Les Pachauds. The accommodation is good and the bed is SO comfortable and huge! What we have loved so much is the peace and quiet with the amazing views.Steve and Karen are amazing and Steve has lots of local knowledge and will help you out with any questions you have. We can thoroughly recommend the restaurant in the hotel at the top of the village on the left, The Montauriol, the people are so friendly and the 'menu du jour' is amazing value. This is a great base to explore the area with so many lovely places to visit. An absolute must is a visit to Layotte restaurant, we thoroughly enjoyed that experience. Scooby is an absolute delight and loves as much fuss as you can give him, especially his ears !! Words cannot describe how beautiful and peaceful the cottage is, we would both go back in a heartbeat and will definitely be back!

The bed really is something else I know and together with the peaceful surrounding, so many guests don't want to get up !! Thank you for a great review, and hopefully we'll see you again sometime soon. Kindest regards Karen and Steve

"Lovely small gite with wonderful views"

We had a lovely week at this very comfortable cottage which is situated in such a picturesque spot. The gite was clean and well decorated and the owners were friendly and helpful. The only thing I missed was not having a proper oven in the kitchen as I don't use microwaves much - but that is just a personal preference which in no way blighted our very enjoyable week.
The location is perfect for exploring this part of the Dordogne.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay. It's great to know that you enjoyed your holiday here. We did think about installing an oven but space was an issue and most people seem to be content preparing quite simple meals. But we really do appreciate the feedback, thanks again. Warmest regards Karen and Steve

"The most memorable week to find the village"

From the beginning of our enquiry, right through to the departure time, we were made most welcome by the owners Karen and Steven. This was the holiday we most needed and we could not have picked a better place to relax and wind down. The property was everything we thought it would be and a bit more. Everything was as it was advertised and the gite was clean and well maintained. The village is a 5 minute walk away, there is a good selection of essential shops and places to buy food and groceries and while we had a car, fuel. The restaurants are good and we loved the Sunday food market. With such friendly local people, it made it easy to start conversations with strangers. The area is blessed with many walking trails and road walks to nearby other villages such as Plazac and Fleurac which are around 5 kilometres away. The accommodation provided to us was clean and comfortable and we had what we needed. The owners are a good source of local knowledge and give generously of their time to help out with great places to go to off the normal tourist track.
When you stay in this place get to appreciate the quiet and beautiful late afternoon/evening sunsets. The loveable family dog, Scooby, will soon adopt you and possibly you will adopt the baby chickens like we did. It makes for a very down to earth visit that suddenly comes to an end with a little sadness, but fond memories nevertheless.
Thank you to Karen and Steven for being such great hosts. We can only but recommend your property.

"Great base in beautiful area"

Stayed for a week, could have used two! The apartment is a barn conversion which is comfortable and well equipped. Satellite tv with english channels and a good collection of books are available.
1 bedroom with kitchen/living room combination is a good size and patio dining/sunbathing extends the area.
The setting is gorgeous, a few minutes walk from the small village which has a supermarket and a couple of restaurants. Karen is happy to offer advice on other options if needed.
I think a car is essential to stay here with a multitude of interesting places within 30 minutes of the apartment ranging from prehistoric caves to medieval chateaux all along a beautiful river valley.
Highly recommended.

Thank you for such a great review. You are quite right, to get the most out of your holiday here and to see all the sites, a car is necessary. Maybe we'll see you again sometime soon, so that you can get to do the things you missed first time round. Thanks again, warmest regards Karen and Steve
