The ground floor consists of a well equipped kitchen and adjoining dining area which has an old wood-burner, a settee, chairs and a table which extends to seat 8/10 people. This leads to an outside space where you can dine Al Fresco looking out onto the river. On this level there is also a shower room/wet room and toilet. Up the stairs or through the front door and up a few stairs is the first floor where there is a double bedroom with en suite toilet and another double bedroom adjoining. The staircase leads off to the second floor which has two self contained double rooms one with double bed and one with two singles. Through the hallway at this level leads to another shower room and toilet and a further stairwell to a converted roof space with two connecting rooms one with a single bed the other with a double. This floor has limited headroom so would ideally suit those who could cope with this. The roof space has two small Windows and one large window opening as well as a skylight giving a lot of light and some views of the river .
|Further details outdoors|
The outside space is minimal with a small area off the living room which you can get a table and a maximum of 8 seated. This offers a stunning view of the bridge and river. There is parking at the back of the property.
The approach to the property by car is via a very narrow street. For the faint-hearted the car can be left in a number of other locations with a short walk to the property. The streets whilst being very picturesque are narrow and quite hilly.
About this location
The Languedoc-Roussillon region
The village of Roquebrun lies in the central south west of France, between the mountains and rugged terrain of the Haute Languedoc with the outstanding vineyards on many of the hill slopes producing some excellent wines. Situated on the hilly banks of the River Orb, Roquebrun is a picturesque place, with a medieval tower, old water mill, weir and bridge. It's a town with its quaint cobbled streets and old stone houses in the heart of the old village itself, and it is a perfect place to relax, to get away from the pressures of everyday life and allow yourself to enjoy the laid back atmosphere of this tranquil region.
If you need big city resources though, you may want to head to Béziers, capital of the Hérault, which is within easy reach or the much bigger Montpellier which is well worth a trip along with the many beaches along the coast or the busy port of Cap d'Agde.
Roquebrun has a number of essential shops, and a few splendid places to eat. There is a well equipped general store, a boulangerie/coffee bar, tabac and three other bars. It also has its own market twice a week, and various festivals on throughout the year especially famous is the Mimosa Fete ifn February and its own Village Fete during the last weekend of July. There are also some delightful Mediterranean gardens to visit, where you can see an enormous and fascinating collection of cacti, growing in the unique microclimate offered in Roquebrun. Roquebrun does boast a glorious climate with one of the best sunshine records in the whole of France. It is also surrounde by some other stunning villages especially along the river which you can either visit by car or by river which can be experienced from some of the local canoe hire companies, April to September in Roquebrun.

"Authentic House in Best Village in area"
Had a great holiday in Roqubrun in June. It was a perfect French experience away from tourists. The house is newly refurbished in a lovely old part of the medieval village with great views of the river from the terrace and from the bedroom windows. The kitchen is well equipped. The new showers are lovely and the bedrooms comfortable and simple, we chose a room where we could lie in bed a look at the view.
Roquebrun is the best village in the area with great restaurants, cafes and a shop. Everyone was extremely friendly.
The canoeing on the river is excellent and there is a safe area to swim in the river in Roquebrun.
We especially enjoyed the excellent walks in the Haut-Languedoc only 20 - 30 mins away and being able to speak French without people replying in English! Quiet, peaceful and beautiful.
