I have furnished the gite to give a homely feel and with your comfort in mind. The kitchen is equipped with everything you should need, should you be fed up on being waited on in the local restaurants
In the lounge/ dining room we have provided games to play, DVDs to watch, music CDs to play and books to read while you are having a rest and letting others cook for you!
The lounge also has exposed beams and original stone walls, the wood burner is ideal for those chilly winter breaks.
We have also placed in the gite gite a cool box and picnic set.
A cot, playpen and highchair is also available if required just to make life that little bit easier!
Electricity Included. Linen and towels included.
Further details outdoors:
Opening the 2 double doors from the lounge you step on to your terrace area where you can sit out on a warm evening and barbecue to your heart's content.
The swimming pool has a large terraced sun bathing area with an arbour to provide shelter when needed and a magnificent private view.
The surrounding countryside is peaceful and beautiful. It's a good idea to bring a pair of binoculars as we have a pair of kestrels nesting in the barn and in the morning there are Hoopoes foraging in our field for their breakfast!
Further details
The 9m X 4.5m swimming pool is heated and is shared with the owners. It is a salt pool and is available from June to September and is fenced to meet with French safety regulations.
We ask guests to supply their own swimming towels
The Midi-Pyrenees / Aveyron region

The regions' landscape changes with every turn of the road. From deep river valleys and undulating hills to views of nearby mountains. This landscape covers the lower valley of the Lot, the gorges and the valley of the Aveyron.
The regional food of foie gras, aligot and stockfisch are a must to be tried and if you get bored of eating you could always pop into a wine cave for a snifter or two!
The Rignac area
There is so much to see and do in this area.
In the next valley is Mirabel a village used by the French resistance to escape capture and the village of Belcastel with it's chateau and 2 gourmet restaurants or if you fancy a bit of DIY you can take a picnic down to the Aveyron river flowing through the medieval village of Previnquieres.
All within 10 mins drive from the gite!
There is also a weekly market in the bastide town of Villefranche de Rouergue which is said to be the best in the region, or you could book a canoe for an hour, 1/2 day/whole day just to cruise throught the Gorges of the Aveyron, but if you fancy sitting up a bit higher you could go horse riding through the vineyards of the Marcillac valley or if you fancy using you own two feet there are lots of walks in the area I can recommend or translate for you.
Places that are also a must to visit are Conques (world heritage site), Najac, Peyrusse Le Roc, St Antonin Val Noble, Cirq Lapopie, Bozoul and so it goes on.......
The village of Rignac is a 7 min drive and holds a small weekly market and has a well stocked local shop/excellent butcher/ pharmacy/ 2 mouthwatering boulangeries/ post office/ haberdashery and what defines every French village...5 hairdressers!!!!!!!!
There is also a park and in it are a lake, tennis courts and an open air swimming pool.

"Un petit coin de France" is exactly that. Not so far off the beaten track but hidden in a beautiful countryside. Easy access to many attractions. Among our favorites, Belcastel, St. Antonin, kayaking down the Averyon, Gaillac, Cahors. For those that are a little more adventurous Roacamdour and the beaches of Nardonne were stunning. An abundance of fabulous wines, cheeses and of course the baguettes are all yours for the taking. The gite was very spacious, clean, and welcoming with a lovely patio and pool to relax at after the day. Top all of this off with the most wonderful hosts. Lynne and Gary are truly inspirational, they have done a great job in transforming this property and really are in their niche overseeing the Gite. Always available when needed but never imposing. Both are very knowledgeable of the area and are very frank with any questions you might have. We have traveled to many areas, and can honestly say that the Gite, its owners, and the surroundings were well above standard. ( not to mention the most wonderful tomatoes from their garden. We would highly recommend this property to our friends and family. Sincere thanks to Lynne and Gary.! xx |

We were not that familiar with this area of France, but really liked the look of this Gite. Although we found the gite a little hard to find, it was well worth the effort!! The gite is 3... more |

We received a very warm welcomefrom Gary & Lynne on our arrival and they showed us all the facilities of the Gite. The location is very peaceful with wonderful views over the countryside. For those hot days of which there were quite a few the swimming pool was really appreciated. The Gite was perfect for our requirements with the large lounge dining room/kitchen and the two ensuite bedrooms were very spacious. Even though the location was quiet we were not far away from all the wonderful towns and villages of Aveyron. One of our favourites was Belcastel, 15 mins away, alongside the river and also our favourite restaurant "1909" was there with good food and friendly service. Villefranche-de-Rouergue is the nearest large town with all the shops you could need and has a charming old bastide centre, the nearest town is Rignac which has the shops you need especially the bakers and butchers which are very good. It is the ideal place to have a peaceful break in the French country side but if you want history it is there for you to immerse yourself in and with your excellent hosts nearby being ready to answer you questions. Response: Thank you for leaving such lovely comments. We're so glad that you liked the gite and that you enjoyed your holiday. We look forward to seeing you again. |

Just to say how much we enjoyed our stay back in August at La Fage and to wish you both a merry christmas and a properous New Year"
Martin & Jane Hazel
We had a lovely break at La Fage and thought it was delightful. You have worked really hard on turning it into a lovely place and it showed - everything tastefully furnished etc. and spotlessly clean. We certainly hope to come again.

We have had the most woderful week. The surroundings were incredible. The tranquility & peace were food for the soul.
We arrived not knowing what to expect and we are leaving with renewed spirit & energy. What a week!
We visited Belcastel, conques and had a few "mystery tours" when we mananged to get lost in magical countryside. Most of all we will emember your great hospitality, your kindness and your wonderful blackberry jam and eggs from "the girls".
The Oglesbys (Dublin)
