The Pontrieux area
The hamlet of Crec’h Mordo is set in the tranquil countryside 1.5km from the Medieval town of Pontrieux, which straddles the river Trieux at its highest navigable point. The two 'triangular' squares are surrounded by beautiful architecture including many half-timbered houses. The town has over 50 authentic lavoirs (riverside stone laundry houses) , which can be appreciated by a boat trip along the river through the town centre. These excursions are available from the public gardens, which also has a child's play area.
There is a port with a canoe club and the railway station. The train service is between Paimpol - Pontrieux - Guingamp, from Easter you can take the steam train from Paimpol to Pontrieux, enjoying local crêpes, cider and Breton music along the way.
Pontrieux has many attractions in the summer months, the fete of the 'Lavoirs', live music and fetes. At the nearby Chateau La Roche Jagu, during July and August, there are entertainments set in the 30 hectares of grounds for adults and children. Accessible by car, bicycle or walking!
