Quinta de Sant'Ana is a working 100 acre farm producing top quality wine. Four charming cottages are situated in the nucleus of the quinta next to the winery, the owners house and a 17th century chapel.

Quinta de Sant'Ana is ideal for those that wish to combine cultural visits with "recharging batteries": Unesco World Heritage sites, the royal palace of Mafra, Sintra, the monastries of Alcobaça and Batalha, the medieval walled town of Obidos and Lisbon with it's many attractions are all within an easy drive and so is the coastal town of Ericeira, also called the World Surf Reserve boasting excellent surf, beaches and the arguably the best fish and seafood restaurants around.

The Marreco House is newly built in traditional style blending in perfectly with the beautiful landscape. It regally sits by itself at the far end of the Quinta, on top of a valley, overlooking vineyards, orchards, old cork oaks and Eucalyptus forest.

The Algarve region

The region is dotted with farms and vineyards where small local producers supply the Greater Lisbon area with fruit and vegetables. Portugal's history is obvious even in little villages, where the architecture of churches and chapels speak of past grandeur. As a guest it is easy to combine artistic and cultural itineraries with visits to the virtually unspoilt beaches near Ericeira, a unique village where old fishermen and young surfers get together in this historical place that today is a World Surfing Reserve. Exploring inland will bring you into first-hand contact with the land and its charming people. Just 20 minutes from here you will find the imponent Mafra Palace, one of Portugal's 7 wonders.

Penina

Quinta de Sant'Ana overlooks the picturesque village of Gradil with its cobbled streets, white washed houses and hospitable inhabitants on one side and a stunning coulisse of vineyards, lined with ancient olive trees and cypresses on the south side. Twelve hectares are vineyards, an ambitious and quality driven project. The remainder is split up between eucalyptus forests, fruit orchards and meadows.

The oldest part of the estate is the chapel, which dates back to 1633 and has a beautiful statue of Saint Anne and typical hand-painted 'Azulejos' (ceramic tiles).
