This holiday home has all the character of stone vaulted rooms and conical trullo but with the convenience of a newly renovated, well insulated design. Modern bathrooms and kitchen with professional cooker. Look out from the veranda over the pool to the Aloes and Olive trees, or from the roof terrace, great for evening parties, to the Adriatic or the beautifully lit Carovigno and its castle. Seven minutes drive to Ostuni, the white city, "the jewel of Puglia" with its wonderful old city to explore by day or enjoy in the warm night air. Relax in old bars, or the sophisticated modernity melted into the solid stone. Carovigno has a lot to offer from gourmet to great value restaurants with fantastic food and low prices. Italians choose to holiday here. The veranda has an outside kitchen, popular in southern Italy, and we have two barbecues. The local fish, meat and vegetables are exceptional so you can go into town later and chill, or just watch the sun go down, poolside. Boats available to rent at reasonable prices at Villanova marina. We can arrange.

The Puglia/Molise region

Northern Puglia grows most of the duram wheat for the pasta of Italy, & the region makes as much wine as Australia but, this particular area is best known for its olive oil. Olive tress are everywhere which give the view a green 'carpet'.

Nearest beaches are ten minutes drive away, and there are many more easily accessed from the main coast road. The beaches are sandy and tend to be within coves of limestone which rise 2 or 3 metres out of the sea.

Villanova (15 mins by car) is the larger of the nearby small fishing villages along the coast, Santa Sabina being the closest.

Ostuni, the "Citta Bianca" is a magical place especially in the evenings. The architecture is a mix of all things southern Mediterranean. It looks like a north African town. Eating, drinking and relaxing out in the open air late into the night is a joy, for all ages. In July and more so in August the main Piazzas of Ostuni and Carovigno have live entertainment of all sorts of high quality, culminating in the Saint Oronzo horse parade in Ostuni on August 25/26th. Martina Franca has an Opera festival in July. Ostuni and Carovigno are working towns that operate all year round. This is a mainly agricultural area. The soil here is highly fertile and wonderful vegetables are available. The Markets tend to be on different days in different towns. Carovigno's is Tuesday morning, Ostuni has a full market on a Saturday morning and a vegetable market on a Wednesday morning. There are good supermarkets and smaller specialist grocers, butchers, fish vendors, cheese makers, wine, and fresh pasta shops in both towns.

There are blue flag beaches within a ten minute drive, (Torre Pozzelle is visible from the olive grove), and many other lovely beaches and coves to swim, snorkel, and sunbathe. In the summer evenings the coastal villages come alive with music, street vendors, ice cream parlours, restaurants and bars.

The beautiful Baroque towns of Lecce, Martina Franca, Locorotondo and the Famous Trulli of Alberobello are all a short drive.

Ostuni is 4km and takes 7 minutes to drive.

Carovigno is 3km and takes 5 minutes to drive.

The beaches and harbour at Santa Sabina take 10 minutes to drive.

The beaches and harbour at Villanova take fifteen minutes to drive.

Brindisi is a 30minute drive, Lecce one hour (less on the train from Carovigno or Ostuni railway stations), Otranto 90 minutes by car

"A fantastic week away from it all in a lovely villa."

Great location for a truly relaxing week. Villa is in character with the area with all the mod cons you could need for a perfect holiday. We ate out locally in Carovigno and Ostuni and also in at th… More

"Camping de luxe"

De très belles photos sur internet qui cachent des réalités toutes différentes : pas d'eau potable, un système électrique défaillant avec un disjoncteur à 100 m de la maison, pas de salon… More

Dear Roland, The pool is very nice and laying in the hammocks under an olive tree is very relaxing in the tranquility of Villa Acacia. This tranquility and seclusion is possible in Puglia where many things are not so developed. The food of course is second to none and very reasonably priced. I am sorry the house did not suit you. All houses in the countryside of Puglia have the same electric and water systems as Villa Acacia. The water in the taps is clean but we drink bottled water of which I supplied 24 litres and for the rest of your time bottled water would have cost less than the Prosecco and wine I left for you. There are no faults with the electric system. The breaker on the electricity company meter drops out when more than 6 kw is consumed. This is normal in Puglia and we have the largest supply possible (not 3 kw). Northern Europe consumes more than Southern Europe - it could be a lesson to our children for ecology and the planet - to regulate our consumption. The GPS system was given to the world. I supplied no GPS devices and do not know where this comment came from.
There is a sitting room at the property with a sofa and arm chairs, and there are four dining areas two inside and two outside. The system for waste is hygienic and in separated bins outside under the outside stairs, a normal system. The alarm system had more false alarms than normal. We have five houses and no guests have been burgled in the houses or on their stay in Puglia.
The photographs are real, current and unedited.
Villa Acacia is a beautiful and tranquil place to stay in a lovely part of the world with great food at reasonable prices. It is not a hotel where you have to get up early to reserve a sun lounger.
It might be that one of our properties in the Centro Storico of Ostuni with their fabulous sea views which do have drinking water in the taps would suit you better, but the electrical systems are the same. and 1315676 and 1320479 and Sea View House.
Wishing you happiness,
Kind Regards,

"A rural escape surrounded by olive groves in a lovely, unspoilt region."

The Villa Acacia is situated between the towns of Carovigno and Ostuni in a quiet, rural location. This part of Italy is lovely and, in May, still quiet. Apparently, in August it is very busy and very… More
