Why we chose a home in this location (Year purchased: 2005)
We ended up here by luck, chance, destiny, fate!! We love the area because it is private, quiet, peaceful, safe, tranquil, and the neighbours are good. Our restoration is unique. There is easy access to all the hustle and bustle of the local towns and the best beaches in Italy. Food and wine and the local restaurants, the markets... it's deep down 'Real Italy'. Statistics for Puglia show 350,000 foreign visitors last year, 1,650,000 Italian visitors.

Trulli Carla is a large, spacious and nicely furnished historical house, set in olive groves in Southern Italy. It was ideal for our family with two large double and twin bedrooms with private bath, plus a smaller room en-suite for Grannie. The children loved sleeping in the "alcove" and playing in the pool all day. The grounds are spacious with lots of trees and land around to provide endless adventure for the kids. We loved the local towns including Ostuni, Ceglie Messapica, Cisternino, Oria and Lecce. We took a day trip to Matera which was amazing plus a day out at Alberobello. There is lots to see and do here, including the Zoo Safari which provided the usual holiday seaside resort roller coasters, albeit on a small scale. Puglia is a lovely region, unspoilt and still very cheap. We were amazed by the quality of the restaurants and the food is amazing. The best pizze is in Ceglie at Montovicolo and La Locanda, which also has a huge menu and is open every day except Monday. We never paid more than about €5 each! Beware the anti pasti menus, as they serve enough food to feed a small army and we seldom managed to get to the main course! We would recommend Trulli Carla for any family looking for a peaceful gentle holiday in a lovely, well equipped, comfortable house. The trulli are extremely cute and the children have not stopped talking about their fantastic holiday. |
