The Midi-Pyrenees / Aveyron region

The Midi Pyrenees/Aveyron is located in the South West of France and includes spectacular countryside, the Pyrenean mountains, rivers and gorges, historical sites including many Bastides (walled and fortified towns), medieval villages, museums and art galleries.

There are outstanding leisure opportunities, including walking riding, climbing, mountain biking, kayak and canoe set in wonderful natural surroundings. The area benefits from a vibrant community spirit with a fantastic range of markets, fetes and other celebrations.

Najac area

The immediate area provides a huge variety of activities, sites of natural beauty and interest. The medieval village of Najac with its imposing hill top chateau is one of the “Plus beaux villages de France” noted as places of special beauty and culture.

For families, artists, walkers and trekkers and those wishing to get back to nature the area is a delight. If you want to explore the villages; go mountain biking, family kayaking, horse riding or swimming - all facilities are available within a very short distance. There is a very good swimming pool 5 minutes from the farm. Alternatively the surrounding area provides a variety of safe river swimming locations.

The surrounding area and the larger town of Villefranche de Rouergue (20 minutes) and many of the smaller villages offer even more enticing choices.

During spring and summer months it is possible to shop at one of the many village markets any day of the week (including Najac on Sundays and the large market in the centre of the bastide at Villefranche on Thursdays)

The larger towns of Albi (home to a spectacular cathedral and enthralling history, plus the Toulouse Lautrec museum, great shopping and restaurants) and Gaillac (famous for its wines) are easily accessible as are other noted attractions such as Cordes-sur-Ciel, Saint-Cirq-lapopie, Figeac, Conques, Belcastel and the Millau viaduct.

The farm provides a spectacular and peaceful location from which to explore this beautiful part of France.
Our guests are free to take advantage of the tranquility and privacy that La Singlarie offers. We will be delighted to show you the private walks through our woods that are home to a fantastic range of animals and plant life (although you will need to get up early to spot a family of wild boar!).

Our woods are well known locally for the famous cèpes, a wild mushroom delicacy to be found in August and September, wild strawberries in June; chestnuts in the autumn and wild asparagus in the spring.

We produce organic beef and lamb that is available to our guests as is other produce when in season, for example: vegetables, fruits, truly free range eggs. If you have children we are sure they will enjoy some of our more “domestic” animals and we will be pleased to make introductions to Gorgon the Kune Kune pig and his “harem”, Vannille and Bamboo the donkeys who think they are cows, Fizz the farm cat and of course the chickens and ducks.
