Southern Province region
Sri Lanka's beautiful, naturally unspoilt south coast has wide beaches and lagoons which are perfect for year round swimming.
As well as its natural beauty, the area offers a haven for lovers of surfing, scuba diving and watersports, and has a range of places of cultural interest, including the old town at Galle.
Mirissa is a sleepy southern town which boasts a fabulous beach and very few tourists. This haven for international travellers is starting to be discovered, but is still for the discerning few. Alongside enjoying the stunning beaches you can go whale and dolphin watching, scuba diving and snorkelling and visit two National parks where you can see elephants, leopards and buffalo.
In the busy fishing village of Weligama you can see local fisherman at work at dawn and dusk, balanced high on stilts above the water.

"Couldn't be better"
We have a fantastic time at Stella Beach Villa, with the kids ages 4, 6 and 9 we are not used to such great downtime. The pool catered for all of them, the chef was incredibly accommodating with such fantastic options. We even managed to find time to read books, between the body surfing, elephant riding, Tuk tuk driving, (yes actually driving) and all that holiday worrying of what is next to eat. We will be back!

From the welcome drink on arrival right to our departure, Stella Beach offered a level of understated luxury from start to finish. Set on stunning private beach land, amidst towering coconut trees and bright blue skies, Stella Beach gives you the feeling of being 100% secluded. It would be a great place to base yourself as a large group, family, couple.....anything! The staff are incredibly friendly and on constant standby to your every need. Whether you want a massage, to go whale watching, to practise yoga, or to simply order a tuk tuk...the staff organise everything you need in the quickest of moments. The food cooked on site, was delicious; especially the curries which were a BIG highlight. Beautiful spicing, suitable for western palates whilst giving you a true sense of Sri Lankan flavours at their best. The rooms were decadent, with a modern twist. Stunning polished concrete lined the luxury walk in showers (the biggest I have ever been in ); teemed with stunning wooden flooring looked seriously chic! They have been very clever with their designs which is perfectly summed up with the unique swimming pool. No unflattering pool stairs, just different levels of concrete for easy access (perfect for children learning to swim!) All rooms are air conditioned and come with TVs, great for catching up on news back home. Fresh young green coconuts were knocked from the trees for daily fresh and nutritious hydrating beverages (what a way to start the day!) I truly felt in heaven whilst lounging on comfy loungers in the sunshine. Make sure to say hi to Baxter the dog! He is a wonderful and friendly character and was a real highlight, joining in, whilst playing cricket and catch with us in the garden

"An absolute must if you visit Sri Lanka!"
Our stay at Stella Beach was by far the highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka. From the moment we arrived to when we left the hospitality we received was second to none. All of the staff were great and the Villa, which offers complete privacy, is absolutely stunning. Chef did a great job as well, offering a fantastic range of delicious Sri Lankan food as well as some slightly more familiar western dishes when requested. It would have been easy to stay for much longer and we would definitely go back if we were in Sri Lanka!

"Dream house by the Indian Ocean"
Amazing place! Wonderful house, huge garden, good-sized pool, astonishing beach and excellent meals, the best place to lay back after visiting Sri Lanka's sights. The house is basically built up of 3 apartments, 2 of them with a double room and a bathroom, the third one with interconnected double and twin rooma, both with their own bathrooms. The 3 double rooms face the ocean, the twin room has garden views. The living room is outdoor, so is the dining room. The photos speak for themselves, everything looks exactly the same. You get daily cleaning service, breakfast and either lunch or dinner. You need to pay for the food ingredients but the chef is included in the rental price. You decide what you want to eat, then it is prepared for you just like you were in a hotel. We had fantastic seafood every night. I can only recommend the place, though the pool is not really children friendly, you will have to look out for them there.

"What we call a little bit of heavan"
We travelled to Sri lanka for the first time. 2 families- 4 adults, 3 teenagers, 2 kids under 6. We were greeted at the airport by the Stella each Villa Manager Gayan, who was fabuolus, we had two vans to get us from the airport to the Villa, with the new freeway it makes the trip to mirrisa quicker and a bit more comfortable! We had a fabulous lunch in Galle then it was off to the Villa. As we arrived we were greeted by all the staff and Blackston the dog! We were instantly in love with the place, the staff were always there to help us, Gayan was able to set up a few day trips for us and even came along to make sure eveything was A ok! Sookie, (who we all loved and adored, he sure did find his way to our hearts through his FOOD!!) was our chef who every morning would ask us what we would like for dinner and/or lunch, we were spoilt with the best, fresh ingredients. From seafood, beef, chicken and all the vegetables and friut, it was great! We were able to feed the children a little earlier in the evening, then we would have our AMAZING meals after! We ate everynight from Sookies kitchen, there was nothing we didnt like! The property is FABULOUS!! the setting of the property is amazing, sitting every afternoon watching the sunset drinking Sookies amazing cocktails made with local rum, in the mornings we would stroll around the village and along the beach with Blackston the house dog (who is just adorable), swimming and lazing around the pool, games of cricket, generally relaxing. Our two little children were well looked after by the staff, going to the kitchen 5 times a day for ice cream or milkshakes or just a chat to Sookie and the crew. In the pool there is a great shallow area for the children. The garden staff were great with the children walking them around the property and down the beach looking for crabs and fish. Stella Beach Villa, is a gem and hard not to tell everyone about it, but would love to keep a secret to secure availblitly for next time we go. Well done to Gayan and all his staff, we would love to have packed you all up to come home with us! We shall be back!!!
