Labastide-Rouairoux is an extremely peaceful and charming village in the black mountains, on the border of the Tarn and the Hérault and it is part of a protected natural regional park. Surrounded by beautiful landscapes, lakes and many places of beauty and interest, Labastide-Rouairoux is a village, which up to 30 years ago was thriving on its textile industry. It has a museum to remember those wonderful years and every yea,r in August, it has an event called “La Fête du Fil” to commemorate the days gone by.

From June to October, there are numerous events going on in Labastide and its surrounding areas. If you enjoy visiting places, there is plenty to see from Museums (painting, chocolate, prehistoric times etc.) to castles, cathedrals, middle-age villages, walks around beautiful lakes, vine routes and the vines chateaux etc.

You can also visit the very famous Gorge Du Tarn whilst kayaking. If you revel in sporting activities, there are many more available, climbing for example. Plus extensive child friendly activities. However, if you would prefer just to relax, there are gorges and lakes to unwind and take some time out or perhaps go for a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters.

Labastide-Rouairoux is also a heaven for trekkers and mountain biking with many treks around the village, plus many more in the surrounding villages. For people who love to simply walk or cycle, the “Voie Verte” is a wonderful place to walk, cycle and relax on. It's an old train track which has been transformed into an exclusive route for walkers, cyclists and horses. It stretches for many miles, all the way from Mazamet to Bédarieux.

So, come and enjoy a relaxing time to the sound of the river running alongside our clean and comfortable holiday apartment.

The Midi-Pyrénées region

The midi-Pyrennees is a region with growing tourism. It has plenty to discover from the castles of the pays des cathars to the numerous museum from outdoor dinosaurs museum to paintings (Toulouse-Lautrec is the famous region painter) via chocolate ones. We are on the border of the Herault region and the Aude both are part of the Langudoc-Roussillon region, famous for its wine and wine routes. There are plenty activites nearby as well as some a bit further away. Plenty to choose and more importantly plenty to suit every age range.

Mazamet

Mazamet has got all the shopping centre and shops you may need. There are also lots of activities. For example, every Sunday in July and August, Mazamet offers a free concert at the park's band stand.

There's also a great big market every Wednesday in St Pons de Thomière only 5 minutes away by car. There, you can find all local products, honey being one of them, organic food (there is a great local organic shop too), locally grown vegetables and of course meat, fish and cheese.
